Either way, I don't think Shumpert will ever be as good as Dudley is right now.Guys, when did Dudley become a world beater? He is a very good role playing SF. Shumpert is a good role playing SG right now. You get rid of Shump and we are right back to giving Kidd major minutes and having to play Brewer.
With me, trading Shumpert has less to do with Shumpert and more to do with how losing him affects the team.
This
and people are judging Shumpert after a being back for only a handful of games after TORN ACL
They are?
They're actually overhyping Dudley, dude is a scrub, just shines on a bad team.
Yea kinda like how Humphries shined on the 20win Nets. If PHX is trading him along with a 1st Rd pick for Shumpert then Dudley obvisouly plays no defense and they are looking to put a defender next to Gortat.
Our backcourt becomes worse defensively

Yup, i do think folks are looking at his shooting and are wowed by it, but it's actually his gift and a curse.
He's a shooting guard who prefers not to shoot and his defense is not that good.
We already have trouble keeping guards in front of us, Dudley makes that worse.

Dudley played SG last year and would likely play that here. Right now, we have a shooting guard who can't shoot anyway.
Exactly
I like Shrump just as much as the next guy but if there is any truth to this, the Knicks need to pull the trigger.
Shrump has the POTENSHULL to be a solid NBA player but Dudley has already PROVEN that he is.

Just wait til you find out he's a small forward playing out of position.

yea I can see the complaints already. PHX clearly has a weakness at SG and are forced to play Dudley there. Which explains why they are going after a true SG with a wealth of SFs
Knicks get Dudley
Bucks get Novak
Suns get Udoh

Jared Dudley is better than Shumpert Novak or Camby--wed be getting the best player in the deal--most of the times a good thing. In Dudley's case--he is a piece that fits here--he doesnt need the ball but when he has it good things happen at an efficient rate. He's a good passer a good rebounder and a very nice NBA shooter all the way to three. With Melo Amare and Tyson--a guy like Dudley could very well shoot 52-53%(his norm is upper 40's.
Let me tell you this--and for fans who wear rose colored glasses understand as COMPOSED we will NOT win a championship with Jason Kidd Shumpert Brewer White Felton JR Smith as our guards. Also remember how exposed Novak was--and hes not even as good as last year. I dont care if we lose Shumpert or anyone else not named Amare Tyson Carmelo Felton Smith

You might be the one with rose colored glasses thinking Dudley is gonna put up 53% shooting as a guard.

He shoots 40% on 3s and is averaging 3+ assists per 36 minutes. What else is there that an SG needs to do that he doesn't?

What is he than a PG or SF? I will go with SG with potential to consistently knock down open shots and shutdown opposing SGs

What's crazy is Dudley isnt a sg at all, and even with Shump coming back off an acl he is hitting the same 3pt % that folks are drooling from Dudley.

He plays 30. You think the next 6 mpg would lead to lowered production? That's the same flawed "James Harden" argument that was being made a few months ago.
shumpert may round into form defensively by the playoffs which would be great. i love this kid.
but circumstances dictate that if a player is available who shoots 48% from the field and 59.5%TS and he is a willing defender you have to consider that trade. also he is a ball mover and does not overdribble. high character guy only helps. i think i remember he doesn't mind taking a charge and he is a hustle guy.
jared dudley for shumpert is a good deal for the knicks who are in win-now mode.

Neither. On offense, he is a guy who doesn't belong in the NBA. On defense, he can play any of those 3 positions.
CrushAlot wrote:Rosenthal is speculating Dudley's agent is using the Knicks to stir up interest from other teams.
Cool. I'd be really surprised if the Knicks gave up Shump and his potential on both ends of the floor for a role player who doesn't defend.
