Knicks · Exclusive interview with IronWillGiroud, talking Knicks, Melo and what it takes to win a championship (page 1)

This is Jordan Dolhaze and today we have for you a very special treat! IronWillGiroud's first, and final, interview!

In seventeen parts, IronWillGiroud outlines his vision for the Knicks franchise, his thoughts on Melo and his philosophy of strength training. Plus much more. Enjoy!!

Jordan Dolhaze (JD): Hello IronWillGiroud, it is an honor to interview you, your reputation precedes you.

IronWillGiroud (IWG): Yes, it is no problem.

JD: Let's get right into the thick of the berry bushes, is this team a championship contender?

IWG: No.

JD: Why not?

IWG: It lacks leadership from its top players.

JD: The team has two superstars, how can they lack leadership?

IWG: It is something only astute observers of the ways of Man can detect, there is a lack of fortitude and resilience in these so-called 'superstars'.

JD: You would not call them superstars?

IWG: (laughs) No, there is nothing super about these guys.

JD: Many fans would disagree, they rather enjoy the scoring exploits of Carmelo Anthony and the wild slam dunks of Amar'e

IWG: The many are often wrong, and they are easily fooled by the glitter sprinkles. It takes more than scoring points to deliver the prize. Regular season scoring averages sell jerseys. The mindset of a champion cannot be quantified. (laughs) Amar'e's wildest slam dunks are in the dust bins of history.

JD: How can we then hope to grasp the mindset of a champion, if not by his points per game?

IWG: This understanding belongs to a different dimension, a spiritual realm where only a select few among the fan base dare tread, indeed where only a select few have the capacity to travel in the first place. It is more a sense than a shallow reading of a box score

JD: That sounds pretty kooky, what hard facts can you give me to support your claims?

IWG: This burden is not on me, to peg my observations to simple statistics would be to completely misunderstand the concepts I have mentioned. The burden is on the masses to justify their irrational love affair, but then love, like hate, is often irrational. And, anyway, the masses are best at consuming, not thinking. If you want some glimpse of the ideas I point to, then you would do well to think about what the thoughts in Carmelo Anthony's head could have been on the night that he chased the Boston bus.

JD: You do not think Carmelo should have chased the Boston bus?

IWG: I do not, and it is in the chase of the bus that we see the reason New York will never win a championship with Carmelo at the lead.

Part 2 next week, thank you for joining us.

You are a bad boy and will be soon in big trouble...

32-16, 4 game lead in the Atlantic and 1.5 games behind the #1 seed in the EC. 7-3 in our last 10 and the best team we've had in 20 years.

Top 10 offense, top 10 defense, 5th in point differential #1 in turnovers yet this team is not a championship contender? SMFH.

If there is no belief in your team then why follow them at all?

I can't tell if you're joking or not, sometimes! Sometimes you say stuff and I think you have delusions of grandeur or something. But I appreciate the fact you've gone to the trouble of spelling out your position- it puts me off reading your posts though when you start declaring yourself superior to all- no need for it man, let your argument stand without all the bluster.

Hi this is Jordan Dolhaze,

the impression I get from IWG is that he is a pretty funny guy

Didn't know we'd crept back up to being a top 10 defensive team, but its good to hear. Still some work to be done, so hopefully we can end the season with a bit more improvement in that area.

Well, see sometimes you write stuff and I do laugh, but then I'm not sure if you're being serious!

I'm surprised your alter ego asked about the Boston bus, that's so old news at this point.

But anyway, I'm glad you posted this, i can take your post for a grain of salt as well or "dust bins of history".

Giving up 96.67 PPG, good for #8 in the league.

Is it that important to "Believe" or can one just enjoy the games, follow the teams and hope they continue the trend into the playoffs?

This is not religion or a "society" where you have to prove your loyalty?

I doubt there were many that thought the team would be this good so fast this season. Sure there are the Simple believers who are in the faith regardless of the roster and claim a higher calling having "known" the real truth. fact is an analog clock is right twice a day as well.

The guy is saying he does not think the team as well as it is doing has the meddle to do it in the post season.

Its a valid arguement for two reasons:

1. The team in its current form has not succeeded past the first round in two years. There are valid reasons for this, but they have no track record of post season success. There are other teams that have.

2. Of our core, only Tyson has achieved a championship in the NBA and he is not on the offense. Jason is a role player. A very important piece and we can only hope he can rise up when we need him the most. Melo and Amare have been to Conf finals.

That not to say it can't happen and OBM is not saying it won't.

Melo has to rise to a new level of play in the playoffs. When he does he will elevate his stature and reputation. Then "belief" becomes tangible.

I can only speak for myself, but as a fan I'd really welcome this to happen. fans can wish for it and some fans simply romanticize in great detail as if it already occurred.(NYKMentality a good example of a fable teller).

Or we can just keep Nit pick the defining traits of each UK contributor!

I think we all agree that the team needs to fine tune things to achieve the goals they believe they can.

But there are some who can't believe or enjoy the games.

Me personally i enjoy all wins, and get pissed at certain losses, depending on how they lose.

Do i think this team can win it all, nope, but i think they have a shot.

Go out there and battle Miami in the ECF and the team has satisfied my goals for them more than enough.

The Knicks have not looked consistently good defensively since Dec. 17th. Right now they are beating up on real bad teams and squeaking by a good Atlanta team where they gave up 100+

I don't think its crazy to be a little concerned with the defense heading into a brutal March schedule in which we face all the elite teams.

With that said we are getting Rasheed back so i expect and hope that the defensive improves drastically

I assume it's because pace is confounded with defensive effectiveness when looking at PPG
TS% or points per possession would make more sense though.
