Yeah, damn David Stern for voiding a Chris Paul trade to LA so that he could end up being traded to LA. We totally would've gotten him otherwise.

Dolan has made many mistakes but when exactly did he sweep the Knicks from the threshold of greatness?

The team was regularly winning 50 to 60 games and getting far into the playoffs. Then he took over and we haven't won a playoff series in thirteen years.

Not sure if the Knicks would have gotten Paul but it was reported he wanted NY. Response was to IWG saying Paul wouldn't play in NY because of Dolan.

Agree. But I think ShellTop is implying a particular move, i.e. not resigning Lin or the Melo trade. I just want to hear where he is going with that.

What difference does it make if one move or multiple moves are the reason Dolan swept us from contention to a decade of losing?

I think when you speak specifically about the Heat and LBJ you are talking about the current team. Also, the Knicks are in second place in the east and first in the atlantic. Not sure how that is swept from contention. But my question was to shelltop. I want to know what move Dolan made that swept this current group or recent group of Knicks from the threshold of greatness in his opinion.

If the Knicks were never near the threshold of greatness in the past ten years, how can you expect one move to have been the difference? If we regularly had been winning 55 games and Dolan had missed one golden opportunity, the question would make sense. But here I don't get it.

One move could have set us in a much better path - I think many of the critics would state that. I didn't want us to spend max money on Melo or Amare. But that's a different question from the threshold of greatness.

We were doomed the second Walsh gave Amare $20mil uninsured dollars. Whether we signed Melo, Paul or Dwight it wouldn't have mattered. Amare making $20mil per coming off the bench for 20mins a game is a complete waste of cap space

Gotta credit Dantoni some for that. Walsh told him to pick Shumpr or Singleton. Needing a SG because Landry is an end of the bench SF made it an easy choice. No one expected Faried to be this good. He played for Moorehead St where the hell is that? Good value in the 2nd round so can't fault them for that
