now you're left with 1 tradeable piece in shumpert and he's not gonna yield anything but a backup quality player.
tough times coming indeed.
We let Fields go too...I remember when Knick fans used to like posting videos of him singing Bruno Mars and Travy McCoy yes times have changed indeed....
Shump has 1 foot on the curb and 1 foot on the street from getting DAT Field's Day....
I would say 80% of Knicks fans hated Fields
20% liked him
0% liked him at $7mil per for 3yrs

Not when he was singing with Tyson on Stage...it was 80% Lust and 20% confused over their emotions...Matter of fact at the time of the trade fans were going ape at the idea he would be included in the Melo deal...he was the more preferred young player for keeps...remember he was Hondo whatever Walsh spoke about him was hallowed ground...OH NO WE CAN'T TRADE FIELDS HE LEADS ALL GUARDS IN REBOUNDING EVEN OVER KOBE....
But eventually True Colors shined through and the fan base turned on the youngan...never stood a chance.
I was one of the ones pulling for him to leave the Knicks to compete in American Idol
This is more a rhetorical question in nature and not directed specifically at you...
So Camby's 3rd yr is incredible value for trade in an expiring yr but Fields at 3yrs $19mil is the ultimate sin and has no value to us in his expiring yr?
Camby will hopefully be a contributor late this year. Fields would be sitting next to Copeland & Brewer

Camby will be in a full body cast in his expiring yr at least Fields would be capable of playing and shattering glass.
To the OP, it's not that easy to just shutdown Melo. Only Melo can really stop Melo. That's the reason our team is 3rd in OFf efficiency.

It wouldn't have anything to do with our center leading the league in efficiency?

Basic math is not your strongest field is it??? The real question is, what does it matter to you, either we have a 14 million dead weight for the hopes of trading him 3 years from now or we are stuck with the full 3 years of garbage play.
Seems a little bit more of a risk to carry than a 2 years of camby at 8 million if we trade him or buy him out, don't you think?
Same thing for Lin, how is trying to trade a 12 and 6 point guard with 15 million last year price tag an assets? Yeah either that player performs or we eat that deal, their is no trading Mediocre talent with big price tags in the new CBA.

Except a big expiring contract can be an asset as long as the owner doesn't mind dishing out the money.

But how many plays are designed for Tyson? He's not our main scoring Threat. Off Eff is based off pts per possession. Melo posts, draws a double, gets a hockey assist. Unless you are a pick n roll player in today's nba most players don't put up high assist numbers either.

Yeah because we all know GMs will adore a brittle over 40yr old(who never plays) expiring at $3-4mil than a 27yr old serviceable player at a $7-8mil expiring.
For the record Fields is only making $5mil for this yr and next yr.
I mean for the longest this fan base thought we could move Marbury and Curry are you saying we've lost faith in being able to move the bigger expiring contracts although Fields is far from it.

Again you are just throwing shit out in every direction to hope something sticks.
Camby is gone next year if we dump him or not.
Why compare him to fields who you have to hope some GM who wouldn't be comparing to Camby, adding him versus adding some other players as opposed to the likelihood of being stuck with his 18 million for three years.
And then go further about what fans though could happen with Marbury's expiring in the last CBA??? How does any of that have to with anything else.

Look at the team's efficiency #s without Tyson and then look at them without Melo, and get back to me.
Speaking of tough times, I just went to 82games.com and found this question on their homepage: "Trivia time: which two NBA teams last won a playoff series THIRTEEN years ago?"
I think we all know one of the two answers.
