Knicks · only rumor that makes sense for us: josh and Devin Harris for A'mare and Shump (page 2)

What do you think about getting Josh Smith to guard Lebron? Whereas Shumpert can possibly only guard Wade?

Amare gets the ball on the low block not 18ft out like last year only to go iso.

Tyson never gets the ball outside of the lob

In other words Dantoni really screwed the 3 of them up last year by starting the offense 18-23ft out with both Melo and Amare.

The 3 of them have been fine offensively dating back to 18-6 last year under Woodson. Problem is defensively. Thats why Sheed, Camby and a healthy Shumpert will be key down the stretch

I don't think it had much to do with MDA screwing them up. The 1st big issue was a lack of quality PG play. 2nd was STAT and Melo both not being sharp or having their Jumpers working which in STAT's case really hurt cuz his midrange jumpshot is what really opened things up. So not having a good PnR pg and then also having poor shooting versions of STAT and Melo is not a good combination. I'm not saying it would have worked, but given those problems it sure didn't give them the best shot to make it work.

Things looked a lot better once Lin played and you could see some floor balance. The 18-6 thing wasn't so much about great offense, but rather Melo got stupid hot for a month and the teams Defensive effort picked up greatly once Melo started giving max effort. That combo lasted for about a month, but it wasn't a real plan for sustained efficiency. You can't rely on Melo being that hot for an entire season, which he's never done. Even right now this team needs more than a hot Melo to be effective.

Lets do this trade right now, assuming the rumor is credible. Harris is only 29. He can't be shot, can he? The only question is whether Josh Smith and Melo can curb their egos and stay on the same team. We need to think big. Dudley, Redick and Jeramiane O'neal aren't going to make difference. Josh Smith can give our defense and offense a needed boost. I know this is just a pipe dream, but something needs to be done.

If Dolan would sell the Knicks to Seattle, it may be a good start. PUKE
