Knicks · GAME DREAD: KNICKS vs SIXERS @MSG 2/24 7pm: START AMARE FOR KIDD (page 1)

gunsnewing @ 2/23/2013 12:18 PM
Time to roll up their sleeves

Tyson
Amare
Melo
Shumpert
Felton

Alan Hahn ‏@alanhahn
#Knicks announce signing of Kenyon Martin to a 10-day contract. Team practicing this afternoon. Martin could be available for Sunday vs PHI.

Jonah Ballow ‏@jonahballow
Kenyon Martin will wear the No. 3 for the #Knicks

MSG3 @ 2/23/2013 12:21 PM
We're going to lose this game also. It's amazing the complete 180 this team did from 18-5.
gunsnewing @ 2/23/2013 12:26 PM
Jrue Holiday gonna have another field day with Felton guarding him
smackeddog @ 2/23/2013 12:28 PM
The losing... make it stop... make it stop....
RonRon @ 2/23/2013 1:04 PM
I would much rather have Martin start with his DEFENSE over Amare
and Kidd need's to move to the bench and possibly even take some time off to recover

With

Felton
Iman
Melo
Amare
Chandler

our big 3 offensively would be

Felton/Melo/Amare, while none of these players are good player's that know how to play off each other/ off the ball/ so it will be stagnant

gunsnewing @ 2/23/2013 1:06 PM
You have to look at it this way. Having Melo as your only offensive threat means teams collapse on him and the game becomes a chuckfest. See the last 30 games for reference

With Tyson Chandler and Iman Shumpert inabilty to spread the floor, they will pack the paint and make us in to a jump shooting team and we don't have shooter's to spread it out
Melo does not play well off the ball as well

I think Chandler need's to be one of our #1 or 2 option's with the PnR and when Lin did it, he was successful because Chandler knew he would get the ball or shooter's would be open
But we go on and off with utilizing him and he doesn't know when to expect the ball or to concentrate on getting a rebound/fighting for position
This also make's Chandler much more effective on both end's of the floor with his confidence

I know we were blown out by Pacer's but I like how we utilized Chandler, defense/matchups was the issue that game..

I simply do not trust

Tyson
Amare
Melo

with all 3 together on the floor with major minutes and Woodson tries to limit their time together because of the poor spacing and how the defense would play us with that line up
don't force something to work when we have been proven that it doesn't work for 1.5 years

gunsnewing @ 2/23/2013 1:15 PM
Starting Kmart next to Tyson isn't going to help our perimeter shooting either

Amare scores inside
Melo scores outside

Melo is a SF not a PF

RonRon @ 2/23/2013 1:18 PM
you are right but Amare's defense is a lot worse than Martin's
so it still improves our DEFENSE

our best defensive G is actually JR Smith
He could use his size/athleticism/length on PG's while Felton can use his strength/speed Sg's
Felton cannot defend PG's

RonRon @ 2/23/2013 1:22 PM
I am praying Kmart could be similar to how JJ was successful with Chandler last season

Kidd need's to be removed from the starting lineup regardless

smackeddog @ 2/23/2013 1:30 PM
K-mart practicing today, will find out soon when he'll be playing- Jonah Ballow has a photo on his twitter.
gunsnewing @ 2/23/2013 1:31 PM
Notice Kmart is playing with the 2nd Unit. Amare starts

Jonah Ballow‏@jonahballow

Woodson says Martin looked pretty good in practice and he may play tomorrow night

gunsnewing @ 2/23/2013 2:16 PM
Looks like he is in very good shape. Still gonna take time to get in basketball shape but he should be able to contribute right away
gunsnewing @ 2/23/2013 2:43 PM
Ian Begley ‏@IanBegley
Woodson said Rasheed remains "a ways away" and Camby is a step ahead of Rasheed but there's no specific timetable for his return.

Camby is ahead of Rasheed and Camby's foot still hurts after scrimmaging

AnubisADL @ 2/23/2013 2:58 PM
Martin has good genetics. The guy still has hops. He just cant give you 30+ minutes a night.

I hated the Nets but Martin was a beast.

Shame injuries robbed him of what could have been a much more productive career. I'm still amazed that he could still jump last season despite micro fracture surgery in both knees.

Video up of his first practice on Knicksnow.com

Also a good interview with him:

A shame Camby and Sheed aren't healthy- a full strength front court with them, K-Mart, Tyson and Kurt would be great to see.

When you have guys who protect the paint and challenge penetrating pg's it helps the fast break and us getting easier points.

Kmarts attitude is what's needed the most, these guys have been playing soft as blue cheese at the rim.
