Knicks · START Amare (page 1)

Hopefully Melo is watching. This team would be unstoppable if Melo took a backseat to Amare(Career 53% shooter) Melo should take pride in becoming more of a playmaker instead of someone who iso's for 25+ shots. We've seen where that gets us in the playoffs

I love how Melo was setting up Amare before he went down. He actually leads the Knicks in assists to Amare. Just have to go completely away from isoball and move the ball consistenly.

There will be games were Melo is needs to take over but 58 games into the season it is time to establish an identity other than iso-joe Atlanta offense.

No way teams like Indy and Chicago can stop us. Knicks are a more balanced team. Offense and Defense when they feel like playing.

Holding out hope the plan is to start Amare as the playoffs approaches. Keeping Amare's mins down now will allow him to go all out for 40mins in the playoffs.

Again Amare a career 53% shooter as a one trick pick n roll pony is now unstoppable with a varity of post moves

Thank You Hakeem. You owed us one!

You bring up an interesting point - while Melo is out, this is basically Amare's team again. Granted the Knicks are Melos squad but I think Stat is a leader and will get more comfortable while Melo is out. We do need to get away from ISO ball but I think Amare may be better running his own unit rather than pairing him with Melo - unless Melo distributes more like you said.

Exactly people who want to keep Amare on the bench are happy with iso 1 on 5 ball. Because face it. That is exactly what we are when Melo is out there as our only scoring option. Its bad for Melo, the team and the fans. Sharing the rock with James White is not smart so Melo goes 1 on 5 but its been proven the last 2 postseasons that it just doesn't work.

I don't want to hear anyone complain about ball movement if Melo is out there all alone. I don't want to hear why didn't Melo pass the rock to James White he was open when Amare and his $20mil is sitting on the bench because he doesn't fit with Melo and Tyson

I don't think there is an Amar'e or Melo problem. They both seem to work well with each other when they are not at the 4 or 5. ALso, If Amar'e can keep Melo from taking those late in the shot clock attempts it will help everyone.
gunsnewing @ 3/7/2013 9:59 PM
Its amazing. With Melo out the ball is in Felton's hands more allowing him to penetrate and dish or look for Amare on the pick n roll. Felton's duty with Melo involves handing the ball to Melo as he goes 1 on 5 and the rest stand around and watch

That's Woodson's and Feltons fault!

nadavshomron @ 3/8/2013 9:07 AM
when melo is out this is JR's team as we saw in the OKC game!

Where did you see that last night? It was mostly the JR show against the Thunder.

That doesn't wok with the start stat narrative very well. Got to big up Felton and down grade Stat getting his shot stuffed in his face for 16 points in a one point lose.

I think Kmart made a case for starting though, if you look at the positives of last night, we were in that game best of defense and timely shot making. I thought Kmart looked good.

I liked what K-Mart brought too- at last some gritty defense- it's been a while.

Im getting the feeling that Kmarts gonna get the start over Amare
GustavBahler @ 3/8/2013 10:37 AM
Stat is thriving where he is and getting better, I wouldn't start him at least until the playoffs. Melo is the best in the league at first quarter scoring. I believe rebounding and defense is more of an issue in the first. Stat won't help much in that dept.

Stat and JR are doing a better job of working together, with Kidd coming off the bench and improving, I believe by the end of the regular season people won't be sleeping on the second unit anymore.

If Kmart plays the way he did last night I'm all for it.

Who cares about starting....its about crunch time. Thats when we need stat. Melo leads the league in 1st quarter points.

I don't mind Amar'e coming off the bench- Melo tends to have a hot start and be the sole offensive option, so it's not like Amar'e would get any shots if he started anyways. May as well put in some defense at the PF spot.

Im cool with Amare coming off the bench but I personally liked the Tyson-Camby front line

Melo leads the league in 1st quarter scoring but do the knicks as a team?

I actually find there is more ball movement when Melo is in and Amare out, not the other way around. When Amare is in the ball seems to stop more, and he is less effective in iso than Melo too.

gunsnewing @ 3/8/2013 11:24 AM
Yea thats because Amare is a career 53% shooter. Melo is 43% so Amare iso is going to look better
knickscity @ 3/8/2013 12:43 PM
I was actually shocked amare's defense looked better than his offense against starting competition last night.
callmened @ 3/8/2013 2:27 PM
his defense has improved i'll admit. as long as he plays defense then he can start
