He has done his job during the regular season, but it's the post season that will really cement his legacy. He's proven that he can get a team to play well and get to the playoffs over the course of his career. The only thing he needs to do now is get his team to the ECF's and hopefully thru to the finals. He's had some bad luck with injuries, but maybe he'll catch a break with guys getting healthy at the right time.
Woody has a terrible playoffs record and his career average wins per season is somewhere in the low to mid 40s if I remember correctly,
let's not start handing out coach of the year awards based on a 52 win season with a superstar,
everything for the knicks, including woodson's and melo's reputations, hinges on this year's Second Season,
i see no reason to feel any type of hype until we see how this Second Season goes,
IF, only IF, this Second Season goes well (well meaning ECF appearance at a minimum), then at this point NEXT YEAR, with a similar record, can we justify Regular Season hype
Oh, now he's a superstar
I don't think Woodson has been tested yet. Has he won a tough playoff series before? He doesn't seem to be a top tier coach to me.

Nailed.
What's nailed? I don't remember ironwill saying otherwise. I've called Melo just a scoring specialist but I don't think Ironwill has said Melo wasn't a superstar in his view.

Woodson , there's a method to his madness he has a lot of players to evaluate before he finds out who's gonna be the most valuable and reliable before the 2nd season comes around.
This roster( as mature as it is in age) is assembled and fashioned to play playoff basketball.
I will hold my Mike Woodson judgement for the playoffs. This reg season test is for younger teams, our roster has years of playoff experience where nerves and intensity are tested.
Some of you act like little women with hot flashes , you can't handle it.
What I said pretty much summed it up, people who know knicks basketball knew, those who thought they knew the knicks panicked!
To go back over this thread and see the names and to see they are silent now speaks volumes.
So far so good. Doing a great job in the playoffs so far. Adjustments and all.

In your definition please explain your meaning of a scoring specialist that you say thats all Melo is. Please explain. And why he is nothing else in your opinion. These are your words and you keep on saying it. Oh by the way Jamal Crawford is a scoring specialist. How do you compare??

Nit everyone is silent now. 20 people voted to fire woodson during that time. Maybe one and two have been silent

Heres what Bonn 1997 said regarding Melo His defensive stats are average. His rebounding in March was a little below average for a PF but you shouldn't give more weight to any one month of the season anyway. I don't marginalize his contributions - the team would be in trouble without him (but also in trouble without Kidd, Prigs, K-Mart, or Chandler). I just don't glorify scoring specialists either. I would not call him remotely close to a superstar but I would call him an important player.
BTW, telling someone they're wrong - no matter how many times you repeat it - does not make it so.

Please tell me , what are they saying different. Have they been reading Nalod's book of fence straddling of being right on both sides.
The commentaries on the first few pages of this thread are just unreal...Mindful of the fact that this thread was made when the Knicks were 15 games over .500....

Your commentaries on anything are even more unreal.
One year later the point I was hammering home comes true and Woodson, thankfully, is gone.
Wow. Just. Wow.
1 year later.
