March Madness.

Well well well.
24 and Linsanity, Woodson gets it, MDA was torpedoed by Evil-ello.

18-6 to start the season, whoa whoa whoa...too many threes, this aint sustainable, just you wait, it's all gonna fall apart.

8-0 after a horrendous road trip that started it... Woodson's a has been, give me Thibs, give me...Scottie WTF Brooks??? What about Vinnie the Del Negro? LAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWRRRRRRRRRRRENNNNNNNNNNNNCEEEEEE FRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNNKSSSSSSSSS PAGING LAWRENCE FRANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNKSSSSSSS!!!!

If I can't have young players and hope and potenshull, give me fresh coaching meat, cries the unwashed Somber masses.
Division title? Can't whine about that anymore? Your coach is a dinosaur, coaching dinosaurs! Dinosaurs are old! Dinosaurs are bad! It's better to be young! To have potenshull!

Draft picks! We need draft picks and cap space! Youth and Flexibility baby! Eff this division lead in crap division!

Gotta go now, the Rockets are playing Denver tonight!!!

never thought woodson was a good coach. it's too bad melo didnt like d'antoni, i still think he'd be the perfect coach for this team.

D'Antoni has his hands full with a west coast team with better talent, but little chemistry, cohesion or synchronicity.

It takes more than some strategies to manage a group of men. Mike D'Antoni does not have the personality to get guys to enjoy the game.

Too bad Dwight Howard, Kobe and Pau Gasol don't give a ratts but about Mike D'Antoni.

pringles can't handle egos. Never has never will. He was blessed to have an unselfish star in Nash all those years in Phoenix. Amare also doesn't have a huge ego either, but Pringles ran him to the ground all those years

A thread about wanting Woodson back or not and the only thing people can do is blame MDA. LOL

i could be mistaken but I believe you posted these exact words earlier in the thread. Is this all you can say? It doesn't seem to matter that woodson's team is going to win the Atlantic for the first time in 19 years or that the team is second in the east or that they have their longest win streak since 93-94 or that they should get 50 wins for the first time in 13 years. When stuff like that is posted it is minimized.
tj23 @ 4/1/2013 8:50 PM
I voted no simply because we should be able to do a lot better. However, I don't have a clue as to what options will be available

How much better?

A lot better than 52 wins?

tj23 - You certainly cannot be talking about measurable results.

Let's jump in The Way Back Machine and review winning percentages of Knicks head men over the last 30 years.

Bob Hill .303
Rick Pitino .549
Stu Jackson .536

John MacLeod .478
Pat Riley .680 NBA Coach of the Year
Don Nelson .576 One of the top 10 coaches in NBA history
Jeff Van Gundy .590
Don Chaney .391

Lenny Wilkens .494 One of the top 10 coaches in NBA history
Herb Williams* .372
Larry Brown .280

Nalod @ 4/1/2013 9:49 PM
I voted yes.

The guy is doing great work.

Pringles and 4/20 go together better than you might think haha

ChuckBuck @ 4/2/2013 1:15 PM
I voted Yes. Woodson's done an admirable job for all the injuries and roster changes he's had to face. If I were to grade him, it'd be maybe a B+/A-. And to those wanting another coach, Phil Jax would rather not coach a "clumsy" 50+ division winning team that could potentially challenge the Heat. Also, Jeff Van Gundy isn't walking through that door anytime soon...

They look good on the surface. One would have to understand some tenures of them. Don Nelson was gone very fast, and Woodson's tenure is about 150 games? With short samples look at the careers. Holzman's numbers are skewed because his first two years he was building something and his last two year were starphuched disasters when he came back.

Not taking a thing away from Woodson. In the short time he is here he is doing a very very good job and I think has this team playing above its talent. This is a good coach for this team.

Which leads me to not expect a deep run come playoffs time. But im rooting and hoping they do!

I don't need to be right in order to enjoy the team! I temper my expectations based on the talent I see. Love my knicks, just not thinking this is a special team. First place finish, likely 2nd or 3rd seed! I should expect a trip to ECF's but just not feeling it.

The Conference is so weak my expectations should be higher.

I guess that's it, you solved the puzzle. Close the thread. Ooooor maybe we could get a coach here that can coach defense properly and motivate his players for a full season without running his players into the ground. Woody has taken a very talented team and done well in an extremely weak conference. Half of the teams are irrelevant pushovers and the Bulls and Celtics are missing their best players. This team has been winning a lot of games based on talent.

If talent won games the Lakers would not be a lottery team.

Woodson has instilled a defensive mindset in this team since camp, but he hasn't pushed them to be really good on the defensive end. They started out great, became very complacent, and now they have developed bad habits defensively, particularly Tyson. Insert Kenyon Martin, he comes in with a defensive mindset, and plays with proper fundamentals and constant effort. Tyson is still loafing around, too lazy to get up on any screens or shooters. He's been getting outhustled by NOVAK all year. It's Woody's job to get the most out of his players, and he isn't even getting average defense from the DPOY last year.

As far as the Lakers go, they are clueless on the defensive end. Shocker there.

I think Woodson did a fantastic job in camp and to start off the year, but down the line somewhere he lost his team and hasn't been fine tuning them, correcting their mistakes along the way. They've been winning off of prior knowledge and talent.

tj23 - Where did the prior knowledge come from?

If you claim a coach has "lost" his team, please help me out... have you ever set foot in an NBA locker room to determine the mood of the players?

How close have you been to a conversation among players? Or are you basing this on superficial assumptions?

Maybe "lost" his team was a poor choice of words. However, he pointed out numerous defensive issues on his show(The M. Woodson show)yet there have been little to no changes. Everything else still stands that I said. He hasn't instilled the right fundamentals or enough discipline. This team pretty much plays defense WHEN they want to and HOW they want to.

tj23 - there comes a time when your pleas for fundamentals and discipline start to take on a tone deaf quality.

That is nine wins in a row. Not that it matters.
