Knicks · This injury effects nothing (page 1)

This is still a team built around Anthony and Chandler and we still play better without Stoudemire because of the ball movement and defense. If anything this solidifies we must move on and build this team around them without Amare in the future plans. Only 1 more season and he becomes a fat expiring contract. Build this team like Denver did except better. Get rugged big men and shooters and go to war. We can continue to build off of a 50-win season and each year learn from the playoffs and better prepare for the next playoffs. This injury only improves my outlook on this team's future.
Bonn1997 @ 3/10/2013 9:38 AM
Which injury? We have about 4 or 5 at any given time!

We can continue to build off of a 50-win season and each year learn from the playoffs and better prepare for the next playoffs.

Melo will have learned everything he needs to know by 2020. JR might need another 50 years though.
fishmike @ 3/10/2013 9:49 AM
i agree.. Melo isnt that missed. The team isnt as good without him, but everyone tends to play better when he's out of the line up. Kind of a push
Knixkik @ 3/10/2013 9:49 AM
Amares injury to clarify. We are a better team without him simply put. The numbers suggest it as well as watching the team with and without him.

This can be said without amare but the Knicks are .500 without melo. To suggest it means you are just hating on melo for no reason or just being sarcastic.

Silverfuel @ 3/10/2013 9:53 AM
Amare is done. Cut your losses and amnesty him or something. This year is definitely a 1st or 2nd round exit.
IronWillGiroud @ 3/10/2013 10:04 AM
50 wins will be a miracle this season, my friend

Injury kills everything, now you lost your big guy off the bench,

Amar'e turning into worst Knicks contract ever, and that's saying something,

now Melo will feel even more pressure to bang the buckets home,

it's all the dominos

I don't think he has the worst contract we have ever seen. Maybe you can rank it higher because of our cap situation but I consider Eddy Curry, Glen Rice, Jerome James and anyone else who basically didn't touch the court to be worse. Stat's contract is rough though, and we have 2 more years right? I think he is going to have a tough time contributing from this point forward but who knows.

The Knicks have been a .500 team with him too except for the crazy start (which had a lot to do with Tyson and Kidd never missing shots). I believe the Knicks are now 13-9 without him in the Melo era actually, though.

The Knicks have no such options.

They were 21-9 without him this season so not sure where you got the 13-9.

Losing your best big man off the bench is a good thing when you are better without him.

I guess in some ways you are right. Im a little scared now of Anthony longer term--Amare is going to be amnestied.(I dont think weve used that yet?) This is still a team that can win when everyone contributes. When you look back--we might ve been much better off picking up Kenyon from the beginning. He wouldve kept amares minutes down--hes playing much much better than wallce or camby. Somehow if JR Smith realized just how much talent he has--he would be an all star 2 guard if he played smart.

We're talking about Melo.

Good point. Knicks are 5-5 without and Melo and 33-17 with him....

That may very well be true. This team is built to cater to Melo. Dont know if you are beating the heat, bulls okc and san antonio this way tho. Start Novak and play team ball like we did in november and we might have a chance. If not then we were subjected to a season of good basketball not 1 on 5 Melo

You cant amnesty him because we already used it on billups. So basically we are stuck with him for 2 more years. Just like we are stuck with camby and kidd for 2 more years. As bad as kidd has been lately at least he plays camby barely touches the court

Hate to break it to you, but not only did Donnie sign Amar'e to the 5 year contract, he then picked up Billups option at the end of his first season. This then meant Grunnie used the amnesty on Billups to get the cap space to sign Chandler.

Still, even if we still had an amnesty and used it on Amar'e, our salary for next year would come to $55mil, and that's before adding on JR's increase and whoever we draft. The salary cap is $58mil- we would have no money to sign anyone. Amar'es contract makes no difference to us, only to Dolan's pocket.

But it wouldn't be that hard to then move Tyson and Melo and start over in that situation.

Nothing against Melo, but the ball movement is not great. I think we are ISO heavy still. Weren't during our hot start.

They can't amnesty him but they can use the stretch provision that some were suggesting the Knicks use for year 3 of Lin's contract to get out from the poison pill.
