For the most part he has been a first round exit every year. I dont wnat to trade him but if the right deal came along that gave us a very good young player and draft picks then i would do it in a heartbeat

Crazy first round exit comments without examining who they played and what the circumstances were..How on earth were Melo to beat Bron and Wade with our entire team decimated last year..and Boston the year before???...How??...Dude is a top five player...

Oh Lord i should have known if i say anything even remotely critical about melo holfresh will go nuts lol. Look I never said to trade him but if we get offered a good package then you have to do it

If you should say something critical??...How about making sense then...U should say, If I say something that don't make sense Holfresh will be all over me...I'll trade him for the right package as well..U aren't breaking any ground here..But Blake Griffin and Jordan for Melo and Chandler is crazy...Care to expalin the first round exit comments???

Clippers not getting out of first round means nothing. As a Melo fan you should know its really tough to win those virtually unfair west first round matchups.

But the truth is, it has a 0% chance of happening. Melo will be on the Knicks for life, barring him causing a media nightmare that makes Dolan reconsider. until the Knicks, afraid of letting him walk for nothing, trade him for a future version of broken down Glen Rice and Luke Longley.

Fixed. Who has ever been a Knick for life?

forget Melo, some genius needs to come up with a way to move Amare's useless ass.

This was supposed to be team with 2allstars. If Melo had that 2nd option next to him, teams wouldn't be able put so much focus into stopping Melo. Not saying Melo isn't a flawed player but, he'd be better with a 2nd threat out there on the floor.

Very hard to trade Amare until he becomes an expiring contract which is next year.

I know but, I think much of Melo's struggles have 2 do with him being the primary scorer when the plan was for us to have 2 Allstars. You can't rely on the roll players to always come thru when the one allstar you have is having a bad game. That's why teams need 2

Knicks will need to sweeten the pot to trade Amare. It would need to happen after the draft since they can't trade their 1st round pick. Select the player then add as sweetener with Shumpert to package with Amare. Then you need another team that can actually send you back a ton of contract that will equal Amare, Shumpert and the rookie 1st rounder. That is a lot to ask.

I'd agree as far as the post-season has gone but Melo has not produced like an all-star either in the post-season. We've basically been a star-free but pretty deep team in the post-season.

I thought he played well in games one and two of the Boston series but, for the most part, you are spot on. I was so pissed at his refusal to pass to the open man even when triple teamed. I'm not going to turn on him but, my glasses aren't nearly as rose colored as they were.

I just don't remember him seeming so flawed in Denver

He was a scoring specialist in those games. He averaged only about 4 rbs, 1 assist per 36 min.

He's aging. It's an example of the often overlooked downhill trajectory NBA players begin to experience in their late 20s. He's taking more shots and the points are up but his performance is down in everything else. The drop in rebounding is partly obscured because you get more rebounds playing PF than SF just because you're closer to the basket.

Melo is playing with what most players don't play with and that's...

A DPOY

&

A 6th MOY

So you don't like J.R. and Felton as 2nd options?

what I don't understand bonn is posters saying carmelo needs someone else, he needs help to keep pressure off, he needs help on defense... what carmelo needs is a complete attitude adjustment... and no player can help him with that.... He is not being double teamed vs the pacers and for the most part was played straight up vs Boston.. it is carmelo who takes bad shots as if he is entitled to do so...

DurzoBlint @ 5/7/2013 10:48 AM
They are roll players that at times play anywhere from good to very good but, they have proven that they can't be relied to produce at such a level long term. True allstars always find a way to produce.

Tyson - this season - has not even resembled the man won the DPOY and JR doesn't even resemble the man that won the 6th man award just a few weeks ago. His performance in the playoffs is a complete return to the player we has last season except last season he was a good facilitator. So far in the playoffs, he been playing a bunch of Iso-Earl, passing to no one.

myself and 3g mentioned this.. people didn't like it.. but carmelo and amare have a lot of miles on their bodies.. and their style of play.. especially carmelo only seems to hasten the natural decline players experience..

he does need help but, that does not excuse the bad shots and bad shot selection at all. Also, if he would pass to the open man, IT WOULD take some pressure off him

He was double teamed during the Boston series but, they would bring the double once he was inside the foul line. I saw him double and triple teamed going to the rim plenty of times, refusing to pass to the wide open men on the wings and top of the key. Your right about the Pacers thought.

DurzoBlint wrote:I just don't remember him seeming so flawed in Denver

He was and always has been....there were some who tried to say so over and over since the trade was made.

The problem I see is this.

There are some who watch lots of basketball and/or sports in general. Their scope of fanship expands beyond New York. They have LP or are connected with online streaming sites allowing them to take in as much of this game as possible. At least the last 5-7yrs has provided such and outlet and in the case of League Pass over 10yrs. I've come to find even fans who call themselves diehards don't catch much of this team than say the casual fan. There were some of us who watch the NBA because we love the sport of basketball.... in some cases more than the actual team we root for. You then have to factor in things such as Fantasy Basketball League participation, which could encourage others to follow players they ought not, if they weren't involved in a league. Nevertheless it's clear to me those which have more exposure to the sport.... invest time to know just as much about other teams, players, coaches, mgmt, in comparison to the team, player, coach, mgmt they root for primarily.

Not to mention all the Metric Data available to us to dissect and analyze the aforementioned.

There was 8yrs of data on Melo before we acquired him, clearly proving he was extremely flawed and yet we gave up everything we possibly could to get him. Looking back at the trade had Lebron wanted to come here and we had a chance to do a deal at the same time..... what would we have traded to get him? I can't think of anything else we could have offered besides Fields and a broken Amar'e. This proves how ridiculous the trade was.

Melo didn't perform well in last yrs playoffs...the yr before he was hit and miss and this yr he's pretty much miss. Now if his shoulder is hurting him and possibly his knee again.... ask yourself why has he put up more FGA/gm in this season's playoffs than any of his previous yrs. I've never managed to wrap my head around a player who says their arm/hands/shoulder/elbow etc etc hurt but will chuck at an alarming rate well over the norm.
