10mm spent on Camby Novak and Kidd--and that will hurt us next year--it will lock us out of the bigger MLE.
Who gave us better value this year? Camby, Novak, and Kidd for $10 mil combined OR Amare for $20 mil?

IDk. It doesn't really matter. I would say you have to trade Tyson but he has little to no value. I can not think of a team that would trade anyone good for Tyson.
The only steps is to hit on the draft pick and like I said before it needs to be a pg. There has been a lot of success with later round Pgs. They need time to develop but if they can share the time with Felton it may be ok.
The next thing to do is to go try to find un-tapped young talent wasting away on teams' benches or in the FA pool. Need to find wings that can penetrate and/or shoot. I would have liked Pat Patterson but I would settle for Fredette to help free up the kings some space. Basically play the lotto but this time play it young and look for system players that fit a puzzle but make sure the guards can penetrate and the bigs can rebound and play offense.

Agree 100%. And it will be worse next year when they are older still, and only Novak will even play the year after.

Are you serious?! The guy is a top 5 center in the league, and top 3 defensively.
Just stop.

Top 3 defensively, no and I like Tyson. I am hard on him but I like him. I still can not place his value despite his acclaim.
Seriously, if they wanted to trade Tyson what kind of deal could the Knicks get?

I have no idea, I'm not a GM. But saying he had no value ia just silly

Tyson's a kind of player that has little value on a crappy team but great value for a good team looking for a center. LAC, GS, Denver, Milwaukee (I'm being generous calling them good), and Indy would all be greatly improved by adding Tyson. He's also be great on Miami and OKC but they wouldn't break the bank to get him since they're already title contenders.
The only Chandler deal that makes any sense is Chandler to LAC for Bledsoe and Jordan. Good deal for both teams if Bledsoe pans out.
Tyson, Melo and Amare are NOT going anywhere folks

Briggs I already covered this in your Martell Webster thread

You have gotta being kidding me right, your talking about 3 mill a piece for kidd and camby (thats pocket change to some of these owners) novak is a specialist making 4 mill, dfntly a cap friendly contract, all 3 guys are high character good locker room guys.
If our GM can't make moves with these contracts, he doesn't deserve to be a GM for a d league sqaud
remember shannon making 8 million, eisley making 6 mill, weatherspoon almost 10 mill, curry 11 mill.
3 mill with 1 yr left after this yr, please.
were in better shape then you think
I don't know if Amare will ever play an NBA game again. If he does, he probably won't last more than a month or two. I'd much rather get out of his contract than out of Camby's, Kidd's, and Novak's.
BRIGGS is absolutely right. usually $3 mil is NO big deal but when your so far over the cap with no flexibility you MUST get production from that investment...Novak and Camby are wastes...at least kidd has given us something but he looks like hes now washed up. so thats $10 mil that couldve been used on players that produce.
2 wrongs dont make a right...those previous contracts were garbage and these are too...kidd and camby are both 39yrs old signed for 3 yrs
Tyson Chandler is not a top five center in this league.
You don't take tyson over any of the following: Dwight Howard, Brook Lopez, Al Horford, Noah, Marc Gasol
Chandler was not a better than Howard defensively last year. Look at the centers in the league
Chandler is right there with Asik, Varejo, Vucevic, Gortat, Hibbert.
Would love to get Eric Bledsoe for Chandler, but I don't believe they would throw in Jordan. Might make sense to package Shumpert in the deal and get a pick back. We need someone that can get to the rim and the kid could put up numbers with solid minutes.

the 10-11mm $ makes up our bench. Id like to see what its going to take or what the formula is to improve next year.

exactly the amount the Knicks couldnt spend on Jeremy Lin. More excellent Knick management
The knicks shouldn't have guaranteed Kidds last year, but because it was a S&T, they had to give 3 years to both Kidd and Camby.
Novak needs to be traded, the majority of the games he makes more than two three's are games that we are already out playing the other team. He's a front runner, you can't count on him in tough situations.

you get 3 for the price of one, thats a no brainer..with our injury luck Lin goes down, and like last season were left in chaos at the position.
You guys act like there so many options we by pass, like there were a host of FA guards and Centers..
Lin is great, but not all that proven, didn't show durabilty, and your severely weak at the position.
Kidd wasn't plan A or B he was C, see that we didn't have options or a bunch a trade chips then.

your honestly telling me a bunch of guys with no gas in the tank are worth your 24 year starting PG? Cmon son

Im not saying that, but your putting all your eggs in one basket, thats not just a saying ya know.
Give me some of the options we had that was remotely possible..kidd was going to be here even if lin signed and so was Camby and Novak..
Briggs is basing this thread on igonrant signings of a few role players who everyone was gushing about in dec and nov. The roster was depleted after last seaosn we had like 5 guys under contract and very few $ to fill the voids. But he has yet to explain some of our better options, neither have you.
