The key to sports video games is to play them like video games, not the sport they intend to simulate,
so don't look at it as playing a basketball game, look at it for what it is, a video game,
forget trying to play 'realistic' hoops, play the game itself,
that's probably the best advice I can give you
Master the controls in practice and get all the shot releases down. The rest is mostly learning the little ins and outs like what passes you can make and then it's a test of your basketball knowledge. I get more enjoyment playing the CPU and playing realistically. Online games are cheesefests.
