Tyson was bad last night but it was his first game back. He needs these last 10 to get back in gear. If he is healthy then he will be fine.
Its not tysons fault woodson has him trying to guards pgs. He is not as quick on his feet as kmart whi better suits the wacky system
Also, Miami's reserves are not exactly scrubs. That's still a pretty good team. The team that played last night would probably be the #8 seed in the east.
Bonn Tyson rebs based on his height. Not technique. Why are we such a poor rebounding team?

I don't agree with that. Rebounds are a combination of factors, including effort, athleticism and strength. Height is a major factor, as well, but if height was the only factor you'd just get the tallest guy and call it a day.
We're a poor rebounding team because we play people out of position. We usually run with 3 guards, so we don't get a lot of rebounding out of SF which is a position you can get some boards from. We get a pathetically low rebounding total when Novak is on the floor. He's NEVER in position to get a board. We play 3s at the 4. Melo is a good rebounding 3. At the 4, he's a below average rebounder. Play guys in position and keep Novak off the floor and this is a solid rebounding team, without question.
Right he is tall and athletic but doesnt box out and give effort all the time
guns obviously doesn't feel stupid about this thread title.
I wonder how "Knicks are guaranteed to win the chip this year" thread would fare?

I don't care if he rebounds based on his nostrils. Rebounds are rebounds.
We're an average rebounding team. We grab 49.4% of available rebounds. The reason we're not better is that we play an SF at PF, an SG at SF, and a PG at SG.
Why is it that I'm answering every one of your questions, Guns, and you still haven't answered my first one? Again,

How does Tyson rebound vs good teams with good frontcourts? 20 rebs vs the magic and pistons doesnt cut it
+/- Is that measure of a women's vaginal contractions?
I agree melo sucks at the 4

it's what he does when he can't back his point up with a single shred of evidence
I dont put puch stock in +/- as it becomes irrelevant against lesser opponents. You Bonn more than anyone should know this.

he didn't after the 'start Amare' thread - why start now?
I hate the fact that amare is on this team but you might as well get the most out of his one attribute which is scoring at a 55% CLIP. 1 ON 5 MELO WILL NOT work in the post season. We will be playing from behind right out of the gate vs good defensive teams like miami indy and chicago. Tyson melo front court is not getting it done in the playoffs. Either start the big frontcourt or go all out on small ball with kmart at center. Limiting tysons minutes to 25-30. Depends on the matchup. He can play in the 4th if u need defense. The specaing on the floor is critical to this teams success. Why mess with something that is working. We see it all the time with this team and the mismanagement of the "big 3"

I don't think that's true. We're the 4th best team in the league in terms of defensive rebounding % and I think we were 1st for a large portion of the season. The reason our overall rebounding numbers are poor is because we're a poor offensive rebounding team, ranked 20th in %, but I think that's probably by design. Woodson's gameplan seems to be, and I don't disagree with it, that it's more important to get back on transition defense then it is to crash the boards on the offensive end. Doc Rivers and the Celtics have been doing the same thing for years to great success. If you look at the numbers for this season there really isn't much correlation with offensive rebounds and team success; the best teams and the worst teams in the league at offensive rebounding are pretty much the best teams in the league.

Because Melo our starting 4 is a perimeter player not a conventional big. Now we have the opportunity to go big or small and we are going inbetween again where we lack an identity. Not big enough and not quick enough defensively and no spacicing offensively

Stephen A Smith addressed this on the radio last week. Woodson already said on the radio that he will play two bigs against Chicago and Indy. That's the reason why the Knicks were so deep on bigs. His intention is to play Tyson with another one of our bigs when we're against those teams. Melo won't be playing too much at the 4 against those teams.
He said he understands only playing Melo at the 4 when it's a mismatch. Against a big team with a power PF he knows he may not work.

Oh, I agree with that. I was referring specifically to our rebounding.
