Take it easy brah, wasn't attack you or your thread.

You have any quotes or evidence for that or is it just a mysterious feeling you have?

Yes, but standards are much lower than they were for the '90s Knicks. My guess is that one ECF appearance will be enough for him to be idolized by most of the fan base.
As far as I can tell most of the fan base already idolizes him. I can also say for sure that I will NEVER idolize him, even he wins a ring or two. But that's just me, and I am not into idolizing overpaid diva types.
Papabear SaysWell who do you idolize?
Not too many people. But one of the key criteria for me to idolize someone is that they have to put their team ahead of their own personal goals or at the workplace they have to put their company ahead of their own chances of climbing the corporate ladder.
To me it seems MElo is more interested in being scoring champ or MVP than leading the Knicks to greatness, if the second happens it will be a byproduct of the first not the other way round.
In the current NBA, I can maybe see myself iodlizing Kevin Garnett and Rondo. Not saying I do, just answering your question.

That's laughable. No way a real Knicks fan would even remotely consider idolizing Kevin Garnett or Rajon Rondo. Respect maybe, but not "idolize".

Seriously! So when the Knicks play Boston in the 1st round...
Melo's legacy hmm,
First Knicks playoff win in 11yrs
First Knicks 9-0 start in 20yrs
First time Knicks win 50 games in 10yrs
First Knicks division title in 20yrs
First Knicks scoring title in 30yrs
* Longest win streak in Knicks history?
sorry pal, you don't get it both way. None of this 'if the knicks win it all' bs. You're either on the bandwagon or you're off it. If you're on it, cool, welcome aboard, but you don't get to hate until the Knicks win it all and then be vindicated. Just because you want to move on from some of your previous positions doesn't mean we're ready to forget. You have to remember you had us read that nonsense prior. So are you on or off?
and last point of this thread - are we really already arguing about Melo's legacy? Seems so pointless right now
SupremeCommander wrote:and last point of this thread - are we really already arguing about Melo's legacy? Seems so pointless right now
Just trying to difuse the constant bickering between fans regarding Melo. Is the point of this thread that hard to comprehend. Martin just lock this
Why bither arguing. In a month or two the season will end then we can judge

Who are you talking to. I hope you are talking to me. Go back two months ago and yoh will see I had the knicks 4th as a legit title contender behind miami spurs okc. Then Feb happened. Now The ship has been righted in march/april
You are really full of yourself telling other fans how to be a fan. Stop worrying about fans and actually try to contribute something basketball related to this forum
Thanks

Dude, you either didn't phrase stuff correctly or your thread is bullshit. Your first post has Melo's legacy and championship in the same sentence. Kinda makes it seem like a requirement to win a championship or Melo is a bust. You are a Patrick Ewing fan. You know how many things factor into winning a championship. We have yet to play a single minute of playoff basketball and you are talking about his legacy. Not sure what kind of response you were expecting. Did you read lowiq's posts?
Ok then let me make myself clear then. I said in the other thread that the knicks accomplished every goal set si far the only one left imo is getting to the ECF and squaring off against Miami and whatever happens after that is icing. I apologize for not being clear. I only brought up championship because it would be the ultimate vindication for Melo and it is what we all want. In no way did I create this thread to put everything on Melos shoulders.
Makea sense now or no?
Melo's legacy is going to be the same as Bernard King's if he doesn't win a title. Great scorer who couldn't get a chip. It is what it is.
Now if he were to ever win a title here....it would put him above Messier and into the ranks of Jeter, Namath, etc.
I'm a huge fan of all 4 major sports, but there's nothing bigger than Knicks basketball in this town when the Knicks are contenders. I can't imagine how it would be if we won.
