NBA · JJ Reddick - SHOW ME THE MONEY (page 1)

AnubisADL @ 4/11/2013 1:49 PM
Redick is going to be more than fine – perhaps $40 million fine.

He's a free agent this summer, riding the crest of his career and looking to cash in. The Bucks told him he was in their future, especially with Monta Ellis able to leave and Brandon Jennings eyeing a big market.

Milwaukee has ample salary-cap room. Redick could score a four- or five-year deal worth $8 million a season. It's enough to ignore the wind-chill factor.

J.J. is frank about getting paid. He's different than a lot of players – and no different than any others.

"I think for any player sometimes, if the money is so different between offers, you go with the money," he said. "You secure you and your family's financial future. But there's other things, for sure."

Truth be told, Redick's financial future has been secure for years. Now he just holds a winning lottery ticket.

"Hypothetically, if there were multiple offers, I think you just have to value things out," he said. "You do put a value on winning. You put a value on peace, the situation, the organization, who the coach is, who your teammates are. Then, of course, the money – that's another factor you have to weigh."

That's a return J.J. won't be shedding a tear over.

LOL. Reddick keeping it real.

Knicks should be able to get someone good with the MLE. Alot of the lower tier guys are going to have to take less money.

knickscity @ 4/11/2013 2:04 PM
Redick is lower tier as well.

he might wanna stay with the Bucks though, he wont find that money outside.

Just look at what similar player have made most notably OJ Mayo and Lou Williams.

there will be plenty of teams happy to pay him 8 million. he's fashioned himself into a legitimate rotation player for a title contender. he can start or come off the bench.

There are zero examples of such, he'll only get that money from one team...his own.

There are no title contenders who can pay 8 mil to him as they are all over the cap and can't execute sign and trades.

There is only three dollar ranges in the NBA now due to this CBA....max, average, min.

Didnt Asik and Lin get 8m+ per? JR Smith is going to get more than Reddick at a MINIMUM as much as LIn. I think there is creativity that can be used to sign a guy. There are atleast 12 different teams that can sign JR Smith for 8mm plus next year. Id pay JR before Reddick

restricted free agents, and no they didn't get 8 mil each....houston got them for 5 mil a piece for the first two years.

their salaries fits exactly what i said....5 mil is average, which they are paid in the first two... 15 mil is max....in their third.

The cap hold is not what the players are being paid.

What a team can do and what they will is two different things.

There will be no wages of 8 mil for free agents who are not stars or young guys with upside, and even then my two examples who that even then they may not get it.

OJ Mayo swore he could get 8 mil a season, he was lucky to get 8 mil otal.

Their salaries avg 8.25 mm--thats not average. Id also be willing to bet you see plenty of contract between 5-12mm. If the Bobcats offer JR 4 years 36mm is he going to turn it down--what would stop a team under the cap giving out a contract like that?

AnubisADL @ 4/11/2013 3:41 PM
Reddick will be with the Milwaukee Bucks next year. They can easily pay him the most since they traded for him.

With the more restrictive cap structure guys will be more inclined to stay with the team that owns their bird rights. No more sign and trades with teams over the cap.

Should help teams avoid losing guys for nothing.

Nobody is going to break the bank for guys like Smith, Reddick, Young, Mayo.

And why one earth would jordan as cheap as he is pay jr that kind of money with the albatross of ben gordon making 12 per?

what would stop a team is sheer intelligence to not ty up their cap space with players who wont be able to get better or established stars.

Why are you hung up on the average? They get paid $5 Mil a year, then later they get paid $15Mil a year. They should expect to produce at par with what hey make not what they average. JR is def worth a contract like Lin's around $8MM a year. But we can't afford it.

I would only view BG's contract as one thats coming off my salary the year after. Why would I want JR--because I can improve my terrible team. Lets face it--JR has proven he is worth 8mm+--my bet is hes going to get it--care for friendly wager?

Utah has no SG and 35mm in cap space who is out there? Reddick JR and who else?
