think of it this way.
we have a lot of room for improvement and we still got a win inspite of it.

I called it!!! ha ha ha 8 point in the 4th quarter for the Celtics! Pathetic!!!!
It feels great to get these jerks back from what they did to us last time we met in the playoffs.
3 more to go...
Well they are w/o the guy that averages 11assists a game.
Well, we were without our starting PG Billups and most of the series without Amar'e two seasons ago, so...
So what?
So nobody cares who you are missing. Last time we played them in 2010 they didn't give a damn about our many missed players. Even now we miss our second star in Amar'e and our starting PG in Prigs. So if you want to take credit away from what the Knicks did because the C's where missing Rondo, knock yourself out.
This was a very, HUGE and impressive win by the Knicks.
Maybe you don't care but I do. And I cared when we played then two seasons ago as well.
Good for you. Games will still be played and sometimes you will have advantages and disadvantages. Part of the game.
A solid win is still a solid win.

Worst thing for us was ball movement, which should get a boost when Prigs comes back.

If Prigs misses game 2 he ends up with 9-10 days of resting his ankle. I hope he plays game 2 but KMart looked done when he rolled his ankle and after some rest appears to be 100%

We'll see. On twitter Pablo was thanking the trainers that have helped him with his injury and said he was progressing very well. Woody said he was running but wanted to give him more time to rest.
If he is still shaky, then give him Game 2. But if he can go without any problem, then what a welcome sight for out offense!
Wild game. Finally home from the Garden and after game revelry. Was about 14 rows behind the Knicks bench so I had a clear view of the incredible defense they played in the fourth quarter. I gotta say, I will take 36 points on 29 shots and 1 (clutch) assist from Melo if he hikes up his shorts and plays the kind of defense he did in the second half for the entire playoffs. He was ALL OVER Jeff Green down the stretch. I knew that he could play good D when he put his mind to it, but I had no idea that he could be a
shut down perimeter defender. I'll be expecting more of Melo on D from now on, now that I know of what he's capable.
Jason Kidd was a BOSS on defense today. He was so active, so alert. He was fantastic.
And, oh, the Garden LOVES KMart. When he checked in the game, several people around me gave him a standing ovation. He's getting the kind of love Novak used to get, and given how well he performed today, it is well-deserved. Speaking of Novak, he was invisible all game. The Knicks have got to do a better job of getting him a look. There was a time in the first half that Felton drove to the hole and had Novak wide open on the wing, and instead forced up a bad shot.
The Knicks played as poorly as they could have offensively today; they did all of the things that usually get them into trouble. Isolation plays, forcing up shots, lack of ball movement. But their second half defense was spectacular. They committed to team defense and were incredibly active along the passing lanes.
If they can execute even just a little better offensively while continuing to play this kind of defense, they could make these games a lot easier on themselves. Let's see what else this series has in store. #knickstape

Awesome! Glad you saw it in person!
Knicks won yesterday because of defense and intensity.... I love it. Oh and Melo torching the Cs. Damn his inefficiency and fancy shmancy statistical indicators!

good first round victory against an inferior but savvy and gritty opponent. celts are more than a 7th seed so even better for the knicks. still, everyone including me expects the knicks to win this series fairly handily. the celtics can eke out a game, maybe even two, but if prigioni returns by tuesday the knicks will distance themselves from the celtics. prigioni eases the burden of felton and makes ball movement contagious. kidd played too many minutes last night.
too much iso and not enough assists last night. the knicks won't prosper if the bad melo and the bad smith show up. 28 shots missed between the two of them and a combined 41.6%FG and 47.7%TS. those numbers are in no way good enough to give miami a challenge.
kenyon martin was a great pickup.
I didn't see the game, was loading a truck all day,
tell me what happened, how do we look for Game 2??

A. We look even better if Pablo can go..
Part 2
A. So, the Knicks played lousy, and Carmelo was stressed and forcing it most of the game, and Tyson Chandler was hurt, and there was no Pablo Prigioni and no Amar'e Stoudemire and Iman Shumpert barely showed up either (though he was handy against Paul Pierce on defense). And they won, and by the end, they'd won fairly easily. If the Knicks can get back to playing like they did for the last month of the season, the Celtics are in serious trouble.
But no need to think about that yet, particularly with a breathless crowd waiting for the Celtics back in Boston. The Knicks are ahead in a series for the first time since April 29, 2001, right before they lost two straight games to the Toronto Raptors and then disappeared for a decade of Isiah haze. It has been a long, long time since the Knicks have been in this position. Enjoy it. Game two is Tuesday night at the Garden. The Knicks are bound to play better than they did today. This could get fun. - Wil Leitch
I was out all day yesterday, but caught the end of the game on the big screen @ the MSG marquee.
GREAT Win for the Knicks!!!! I enjoyed every minute of the replay when I got home.
I want to see a SWEEP. That would settle the score from 2011.

If a bad game for MElo is a TS of 57%, 45% FG, and eFG of 51%. I think the Knicks will give the Heat a go even if JR has a bad game. JR missed too many open shots though but they were great looks. I looked forward to a bounce back game from him.
Way to combine their numbers though.
People are just not giving Boston credit for their defense...Their defense took them to the finals a few years back...Boston is a very smart group..They took the Knicks out of what they wanted to do...The were overplaying the passing lanes...Knicks didn't adjust with cutters to the basket...Prigs won't change what Boston is doing...

To be honest, I'm prepared for the series to go the full 7 games- The Celtics are a tough playoff team, and just when you think they're too old or have lost it, they seem to come back. They took The Lakers and the Heat to 7 games the past few playoffs. Don't underestimate them.
