Too many fans are getting giddy over the way the Knicks are beating the C's, but this C's team isn't that good. There will be a tougher challenge in rd 2 and we could use Amar'e in order to balance the scoring by having a post presence as well as perimeter scoring. If the C's had any offense they could be more of a challenge, cuz they have caused us some problems with their D. Besides the idea isn't so much to beat Boston but to beat Miami. ALL HANDS ON DECK!!!
We've always had good defensive teams in decades in general. We were always known to do decent defense except when D'Antoni coached those few years. Them losing Rondo is a huge hit since Felton had a hard time guarding him, except I think Felton has improved his covering better this year so maybe them losing Rondo isn't such a big deal. We also had a long winning streak going into the playoffs and Celtics didn't. I think on defense we're doing just fine and can even take down second round easily. If we sweep the first round, I have a feeling the second round will be the same. However, just like some of you said, Celtics doesn't go down easily and we have the oldest team in NBA history. The main factor for this game was defense. We did excellent hustling and they did ok and could not contain Melo or Smith at all. They had decent scorers but our defense shut them down badly today, and that's the key. Felton also stepped up and scored well today and that also makes a big difference, considering Melo and Smith scoring was a given.
I hope we sweep the Celtics and that way we can get enough rest for next round. I am only worried about second round if we don't get some rest. Age does matter when it comes down to endurance and constitution.
With Thomas and Sheed both gone from the roster...are we still the oldest ever?
And I know this won't count for shit, but Camby's played phuck all this season, dare I say we aren't/haven't been THAT old
watch the games. Knicks cant stop opposing guards. Celtics have no PGs. Its a dream matchup for the Knick defense.

Dare I say that Felton's doing a better job defending Pierce than he does at defending guards
Lets be real

Rondo ain't here.
If Sheed were here the Knicks would add better low post defense on Garnett and more emotion, if that is possible.
If Amare is healthy, Chris Copeland does not get the game one start.

we beat them with rondo this season, I could careless about not having rondo, they pumped there chess and laugh at us when we had TD back peddling and looking like an ass for 4 straight playoff games 2 yrs ago.
562 playoff games that franchise has played, and we held them to there lowest 2nd half total in 2 consecutive games. I'm sorry, but thats a statement to anyone in the league who's paying attention.
Everybody says we are a 3 point happy shooting team and we won't survive in the playoffs, well there partially right, cause the open 3's are not there as much, i'll give boston that much credit.
This isn't a MDA coached team that preaches defense but plays it occasionally. Every single time a mic is push in front of woodson and they question our offense, he quickly responds by saying we gotta do a better job defensively..

Im not taking any credit from the Knicks. They are up 2-0 because they have defended every possesion and hit big shots. They have been great. But your 100% right. Felton, Prigo and Kidd all defend bigger guys much better because they can stay in front of them. Smaller quicker guys go right past them and kill us.

yep, and we should be good in these 2013 playoffs cause there no speedy pgs in our bracket
Even without Rondo holding a team like the Celtics to their lowest total since the 1940s(?) is a great achievement. Something to build on.
If we can get Tyson back in rhythm and Amare back for 15-20mins as a 4th option since (Copeland and Novak will probably be MIA for the playoffs) who scores at a 50% clip then watch out. Ball can be dumped to Amare in offensive stags.

why I didnt want the Bucks in the first round. Could you see Jennings and Ellis combining for 60 a night? Knicks can definatly win the East with this squad. Doesnt mean they will but they have the pieces.

We need more offense if we're going all the way. I find it funny that at the start of the season the story was 'Knicks are better without Amar'e', then he returned and was great and the story was that we were better with Amar'e, now he's out again and it's back to 'we're better without Amar'e'.
The winning streak wasn't due to him being out, but was down to K-Mart, and improved play by Melo, JR, Shumpert and Felton. We could really use a good low post scoring punch for 10 to 15mins a game if we want to go all the way to the finals.

I would suggest that our up and down mid season play came right around the time Felton went down, shump and amare came back, kidd logging to many minutes, no penetration, melo was in and out of the line up.
Roles are define, and kmart brings a defensive presences to the 4 and 5 spot, we haven't seen since oakly.
Cope filled in nicely for tyson and gave us a spread offense thats impossible to guard for 48 minutes. But nothing can compare to the defensive mind set that some of our key veteran players poses, and having a coach that understands the the importance of defense.
The celtics may not be a championship caliber team, but we are making them look like a lottery team thus far..even the bucks look better at this point. Keep in mind the CELTICS won 10 straight without rondo
