Knicks · Can you guys please stop bashing novak (page 4)

A couple of times this season, not very many, Novak has shown that he can pump fake, move in and drain a 2. If he never tries another layup again I wouldn't care if Novak did that more often.

I don't recall him hitting a high percentage when he does that - it seems like he misses a little bit more than he makes. I think his percentages go down a lot when he has to do any shot creation himself.

On a positive note, he has been our most efficient scorer this post-season.

Bonnie, every other post of yours is peppered with not recognizing someone else's point of view because of "sample size". Why would you bother to comment on Novak and his efficiency in light of your previous comments?

I guess we can't do "gay robot" jokes anymore?

can "Alternative lifestyle statistical robotic response technique" ok?

Novak didn't try moving in and shooting very often this season, but there were times where he hit nothing but net, enough to demonstrate that he has that ability. With repetition it could be an added dimension to his game. Only tried doing this a handful of times this season, not enough to close the book on that experiment.

Novak's specialty will always be as a 3pt shooter, that doesn't mean he can't try to expand his game. Novak drained some important shots in the playoffs so far as opposed to the regular season where his efficiency didn't do much to contribute to putting the team over the top.

A sample size is not inherently small or large - it is either too small or not too small to justify a specific conclusion.
If I'd said, "Novak has shot well this post-season. Therefore, he's an outstanding post-season performer," your comment would apply. However, all I did was describe his shooting this post-season without offering a specific conclusion. See the difference?

You lost me at:

The rest was just noise!

Judging my 27 years of marriage, 2 kids and a happy wife, its apparent my sample size is ok.

OK, i'll re-frame: that's about the most useless point to bring up considering his output, minutes and production.

he doesn't even need to do that-- put the ball on the floor i mean. just a pump fake to get the defender in the air and then put up the shot as the defender is on the way down. he gets three free throws out of it and draws a foul-- that's big in the playoffs. do that every once in a while and that way defenders will not be so eager to close him out by leaving their feet. dude is 6'9" it's a win-win.

Fair enough - his high efficiency throughout the whole season would be a better source of evidence.

Novak frequently tries to fake out his defender but he doesn't create enough space to get a better look, or draw a foul. At least moving in once in a while will give him that space and keep his defenders guessing. The less predictable he is the harder it will be to stop him.

What a strange comment. You could apply that to pretty much any conversation about this team on UK or any other sports board.

"Drafting tips? Free agent tips? What? We don't have a GM for this?"

And if you read some of the trade proposals, they are pretty lame at times too!

No argument here. Some do sound like they were inspired on an acid trip. Still fun to put them out there and see what posters think. Second guessing is what we do here.
