this beverly kid looks GREAT. great on defense, quick into the paint and can shoot
ChuckBuck @ 4/30/2013 9:09 AM
If I were McHale, I would keep Lin strapped to the bench or maybe as a 6th man.

Lin is a solid player, but he can't bring the same energy on both ends of the court as Patrick Beverly.

Remember Collison!

Papabear Says

25 million dollars says he starts

franco12 @ 4/30/2013 9:14 AM
what are the chances we end up trading for him when he is in his final year of his contract
misterearl @ 4/30/2013 9:17 AM
Beverly makes $281,376.

Lin makes $8,374,646.

You do the math

How far the mighty have fallen...

Beverlymania?

only if we are looking for a big salary dump

Jeremy Lin gave himself the hook because he has a bruised chest... c'mon on. And this is the guy they want to pay max dollars in year 3. Houston will either have to let him walk or sign him to a way overpriced contract

Well that's Dolan's money. The cap hit is $8 mil per season - a little above the average NBA player.

the subsequent contract negotiations will be based upon his previous year's salary - not his cap hit.

Do you have a source for that? I think if you have someone's bird rights you can offer anything from the min to the max.

have you ever negotiated a salary before? it's common sense - who the hell would start a negotiation by halving what they made the previous year? you can't be serious. Lin - and anyone with any sense - would fire their agent if they opened a negotiation at a raise from $8 million as opposed to $15 million

what almost always happens is if a player in his prime takes a huge paycut, they go to a diffferent team. and that's the case in ALL teams sports

I am huge Lin fan, most likely the biggest one in UK, but I think Lin has lost his spot. 2 things going against Lin are...

1. McHale does not trust him
2. Beverley has performed well and looks more suited to play alongside Harden.

Beverley is the better off the ball guard and can shoot the 3 with better consistency. He has really low BBall IQ but I am assuming he will get better with time.

Really feel bad for Jeremy as this injury came at the wrong time. The only thing that will save Lin from being relegated to the bench next year is if McHale is let go and MDA picked up or Lin getting traded to a franchise starved to be relevant.

Felton had a dislocated pinky and that was ok? Lin has a bruised chest in that he can't raise his arms over his head and that is not ok? I know Lin hate is big around here but you gotta be a little fair sometimes.

NYKBocker @ 4/30/2013 10:14 AM
Also...If Houston wants to get rid of Lin due to Beverley's play, I think they will have a suitor in Toronto. That town will go crazy if he ends up with the Raptors. They would sellout every home game.

Might have lost his start job FOR NOW!

Injury
Facing elimination. You go with what can work NOW!

Lin is developing. Hell, that whole team rose to make the playoffs.

I think ownership and fans should be very happy with this season. If not, its just expectations.

I spend a lot of time in the Rockets forum and if that is any indication of how their fans feel then I see 2 things happening after the season. They will fire McHale or they will trade Lin.

Nobody likes McHale in their fanbase. They critique every move and even when he makes a pretty good strategic move, i.e. going zone on OKC, they say he just accidentally came up with that.

Lin is the most polarizing player in NBA history. Half of the fans love him. Half absolutely hates him. There is not middle ground. Really weird.

I'm sorry but him giving himself the hook last year because he was at "85 percent" so he could guarantee himself $$$ despite the fact I shelled out coing for Lin merchandise means he doesn't get the benefit of the doubt from me.

I know Lin is a favorite of yours because he's a role model to your kids but I'm a Knicks fan first and he hooked himself so he could look out for number one.

Also, how does resting yourself mid season the same thing as the playoffs?

Okay, Lin can't perform because he's injured... shouldn't that pattern of being unable to hold up by the time the playoffs roll around be concerning?

smackeddog @ 4/30/2013 10:30 AM
A shame we can't offer Beverly a front loaded, 3yr $24mil contract this offseason...
