Yes, he'll be signed to a max contract. Count on it . . .
max? You mean min, right? Or were you being sarcastic?
I'm surprised nobody has brought up that on a side note Jason announced this so that he can get more action from men everywhere.
Another thing, I wonder if anybody in the league is nervous now that he came out, because he had an affair with them while he was playing. Do you know how many down low brothers are out there today.
Many Women have supposed to have got aids virus from their husbands that was on the down low.

Sorry if I was not being very clear. IMHO, the fact that he came out will not/should not have any implications on signing with a team.

Think about how many Chinese people tuned into Knicks' games or bought tickets just to see Jeremy Lin. The number of gay people and supporters of their rights is not small. He'll bring in more money than the average 15th man on a roster.

Apples to Oranges. J Lin was a rising star that happened to be of oriental descent. Jason Collins is quite the opposite, an end of a rotation player at best.

Im happy for Jason because im sure for him the positives of finally coming out outweigh all the negatives. I just dont think its a story until someone relevent comes out. Maybe Jason makes it easier for them now and we can all move on and eventually get to the point where this isnt even an issue and the media can just stop reaping the benefits and it becomes a nonstory
What if this was Jason's plan. He could actually be straight and not gay. I bet there will be others that follow, but what if they are just making this up just to get a few extra years / NBA money. There's really no way to prove it. It would be along the lines of Manti Teo. I just don't believe his twin brother or close relatives never knew. You can't keep that in for 12 yrs without people around you knowing! It took me 1 day in my gym for my team to know my sexuality. Based on where I'm looking, how I'm looking and my responses to different people.
Anyway, he will definitely get picked up now. Whether it's real or fake, he will have the spot light on him all year. And the media will be doing more locker room interviews with his next team. It will be a low attendance team that will pick him up. And maybe this would incourage gays that can really ball to go to that team, and use Jason as a mentor. More power to him and the gay movement. Hopefully this will get old soon, and we can all move on.
So if he is not really gay but pretending then he is "gay flopping?!
he should be fined and suspended!

So, I'm waiting for a reporter to ask him if he currently has a boy friend. Or if he dated any current or past NBA players. In other words, reporters will try and make him prove that he's gay....

How should he prove it? Is there a test?
I don't think Collin's sexual orientation will have any impact on whether he is signed next year. He is a journeyman at this point and an older one. He gets a spot if a team needs a back up big and he is the best available.
