Knicks · Couple of Points (page 1)

Thrilled that the Knicks finally won their first playoff series in 13yrs but need to clean up a few season long bad habits:

Why is Melo bringing up the ball when you have 3 PGs on the roster. You saw what it led to last night. Either the ball was stolen by the quicker Boston defender or it led to a Melo iso off balance shot with the clock expiring. Then you saw them put the ball in Feltons hands as he drove and kicked out to Melo for the wide open 3. Huge play

Whats with the notion of playing Kidd because he is a "finisher" in the 4th when the Celtics are desperate and kidd is 40. Bradley was running circles around them. Kidd is slow. Teams press Felton and the secondary ball handler doesnt get there quick enough to help

These periods of iso play will not fly in the later rounds. Celtics gave us a run for our money. If you do this against Miami you will be down 30before you blink.

Positives

Iman Shumpert is even exceeding my expectations. The smooth release, Speed, athleticism, finishing around the rim, steals, breakaway speed. He is becoming the as you would say in baseball "5 tool player" I had envisioned. He still has not been through one nba training camp. Not Bruce Bowen or Jared Dudley but Wade, Spree & GP

Felton has heart. He plays like this for the duration of his contract we are in good shape

One more thing like game 5 Prigiomi should not have sat for JR who gave us nothing but more iso chucking and bringing upnthe ball himself so he can do aome more iso chucking

Beat Indiana!

I dont mind if Melo takes 30 shots. He is our best option but get the ball in the hands of the pgs so they can create for you not call your own number and chuck 30footers with 2seconds left on the clock. Its maddening how a guy 6'8 who can score in a variety of ways settles for off balanced jumpshots. It is only getting tougher from here on out. Indy plays better D than Boston. And we know what Miami is capable of. Stop playing into the defenses hands by living on the perimeter. This is the reason the knicks never play a complete game. They go into iso mode. Its one thing to pad your stats in the regular season but this is the playoffs. You need to focus for 48mins. Enough of this notion of Melo being Melo and he should shoot every shot. Woodson should be able to coach his star player without risking losing him.

We have a chance to go all the way. You need to stay focused or we are going to spend the entire offseason wishing that the knicks got rid of those bad habits

franco12 @ 5/4/2013 8:51 AM
You hit it with Melo bringing the ball up - and that was a trend later in the season when we started to lose games.

Why bring up Miami - we're not getting past the Pacers if they play like they did these last few games.

Silverfuel @ 5/4/2013 8:53 AM
Wow, this is such BS. I wish I could ignore threads like I can ignore users.
Silverfuel @ 5/4/2013 8:54 AM
I think the problem is not the Knicks, it is your expectations from the Knicks. You said it during last nights game that you think Woodson is going to bring out a trump card against Miami and you were already thinking Memphis or San Antonio in the NBA finals.
Silverfuel @ 5/4/2013 9:01 AM
Felton caused a couple of turnovers also during the Celtics run. Its unreal what kind of expectations you have. No wonder you are always disappointed. When Melo brought the ball up, he got fouled and hit two FT's and then hit a FG crossing Bass over.

Celtics came back because the Knicks got complacent and thought it was blow out time. Knicks got blown out because Jason Kidd is too slow for Avery Bradley. Your thread is on crack and you don't remember how it went down. You take one possession and think that's how the whole game went.

Beat me too it. Felton started getting sloppy with the ball.

He always remembers one or two possessions and builds his whole view of the game from them. Accroding to guns, PG should bring the ball up. Kidd is in the game and Bradley is stealing the ball from him but he doesn't remember that. That is what started the comeback. He only remembers the three possessions where Melo brought the ball up.
gunsnewing @ 5/4/2013 9:14 AM
Melo can be so good if he just eliminates the isos off balance shots. He is still young. Some star players take longer to round out their game. It took Pierce a lont time. Once Melos game clicks he will be unstoppable

This happened during the 3month stretch of .500 ball and the last 2yrs in the playoffs. I dont judge anything on 2 possesions

Why cant I expect Melo to round out his game? Even Jordan had to go through the process of losing a certain way before he figured it out

Did you read my entire post. This isnt all about Melo you are making this about Melo. Woodson taking out Shumpert for Kidd who looks old is a big reason the game went from 26 up to 4 in 4mins

It seems like once we point out the things that need work or that is not working we are instantly called haters. If we are all to be honest none of us who post here are haters. If we hated this team we would not care to follow what happens to it everyday. We point out the things that are wrong because we want the teams to fix it for the harder playoff round(s) ahead.

gunsnewing @ 5/4/2013 9:30 AM
I cant get on Felton for a couple turnovers where he had no help cos kidd is slow. Felton had a hell of a series

You said a PG needs to bring the ball up. Both Kidd bringing the ball up caused TOs and Felton bringing the ball up caused TOs. Obviously Woodson saw something and decided to make an adjustment. And then we started scoring. Melo only brought the ball up 3 or 4 times during that stretch. Two were baskets.

I always liked Felton. You are the one that doesn't like him and threw a pissy fit when we let Lin walk and signed him. You even said last night that Felton is not a PG and should be compared to Harden not Lin. So then why would you say a PG should bring the ball up and expect that? What a joke.

What posts are you reading? I haven't called him a hater in a single one of my posts cause I know he is a real fan. I have watched every single playoff game with him this season. I have known him for over a decade and I know very well he is not a hater.

Can we give Melo someone like Scottie Pippen first? We have Raymond Felton and JR Smith both of whom you have had huge issues with throughout the season.

I read your entire post and I knew everything you said here already because you were complaining about it while Melo was scoring the last 7 points to win us the game.

Melo shoukd never bring the ball up when we have 3 pgs. It was an issue last yr with dantoni

According to you we didn't have single PG on the floor. Felton is a SG (which is what you called him telling me to compare him to Harden) and Kidd and Prigs were on the bench. And Kidd causing TO's was what started the comeback so there goes your thread.
