Do I think they should wait until the playoffs are done and then votes on COY or Exec of the year? Yeah, but they don't. So given those parameters I can see why they gave it.
57 wins, and all that goes into getting to that.
What they don't do is list the parameters by which they vote on do they? If not, its subjective. Therefore I can't totally respond why he gets it and Grunny don't other than 57 wins without a star player.
If wins are it, then Riles should get it.
i think i get what you mean by "subjective." seems to me, as someone has already alluded to, that a coach of the year is based on how a team does that particular season. with a g.m. there may be an understanding, among his peers who do the voting, of a certain kind of lag time of more than one season. this presumes a certain kind of plan that extends beyond the short term of one season to a medium term of 2 seasons or more. after all when you are building according to a plan and that plan yields immediate results beyond expectations-- this is denver's case-- then ujiri deserves it more than any other gm.
that's the only way i can interpret the results, and yes, they remain quite subjective.
