No matter what you think of Carmelo it can all be changed tonight. Whether you think he's a stud, a bumb,a winner, a loser, a superstar, a chucker. None of that matters now. He can change minds immediately. Big time stars perform in situations like this.
The jury is still out for the Bip and Melo. Still not sure there is a superstar on this team. A great scorer? Yes. An exciting all-star? Of course. Superstar? This guy wants that status. Lets see him earn it.
He hasn't been in this situation before so I'm really curious to see how he performs.

If Roy Hibbert goes off for 24 points, 12 rebounds, and just general paint domination again this series is over.
Last I checked, Melo doesn't guard Roy Hibbert.

IMHO I think you are characterizing it incorrectly. I don't think anyone but YOU have said that this is a do or die game that is all on Melo. But Melo surely has to step up and show us what he's got.

I totally agree that Melo has to step up. Hopefully he's on his game, or we're completely toast.
Same can be said for Ray, JR, Kidd, etc.
That said when we get outscored 24 points to 9 and outrebounded 12 to 5 at the center position , someone has to be accountable, no?
Especially if said weak link is the defending Defensive Player of the Year and was just named All NBA Defense 1st Team.

The implications of losing game 4 and going down 3-1 against a pretty good team are much bigger than the implications of losing game 6 would have been. The difference is between having to win 1 home game against a .500 team (game 7 vs. Boston) or 3 straight games against a .600 team (games 5 to 7 vs. Indiana).

Fact is he will always have these do or die moments until he wins a ring...After MDA left, he shouldered the blame, took the team on an 18-6 run to make the playoffs...He didn't shake the cloud over him...One of the best month I have ever seen from a Knick player...Pushing the Knicks to a second seed this year with all the injuries garnered what??...No legacy still..I doubt one playoff win will garner anything positive in terms of legacy but he may take a hit if the Knicks loses...
I though game 2 was a Melo moment? So, to be clear, are we saying he has to win, on the road against a team that his team has tremendous matchup problems against? What happens if he puts up a 30 and 50% and we still lose?
I'll say it again to all if you. Doesn't matter what you think of him. Doesn't matter if you think he has already proven that he is a superstar. Doesn't matter if you think he is a bumb. Doesn't matter if you think he is going to be treated unfairly. What matters is that SUPERSTARS step up in games like this. Superstars go for 36 and 19. Superstars go 22 and 20. Superstars don't wait for Chandler or JR. Superstars go all out on both ends of the floor and force the Pacers to steal the game from them. Win or lose, great support or no support. Fair or unfair. To be a SUPERSTAR you have to get it done.
If you can't get it done. If you can't lift up your team, THEN YOU ARE NOT A SUPERSTAR. You may be a damn good player that we can all root for and support. No shame in that. But YOU ARE NOT A SUPERSTAR.
