Knicks · Hibbert's body block is the difference in the series... (page 1)

holfresh @ 5/17/2013 10:28 PM
Any Knick that attacks the rim in this series gets hit hard by Hibbert's body...The first couple of games in this series it's been a non-call...Hibbert got called a couple of times in the last game but not nearly the amount of times he has committed this foul..He crushed Chandler at the end of game five and Chandler was hurt but no call...Melo isn't driving the lane as much because he isn't getting Hibbert's body block call..

Hibbert hits u hard enough with the body that it alters your shot...It's like a block shot...Now there are times he makes a good vertical jump but the majority of those are fouls..Refs aren't calling nearly enough of them...It's changed the way Melo attacks the rim...In my opinion, it's the difference in this series...

Hibbert is just super strong and knows how to use his strength to defend the paint,

it's good to watch him play, i wish we had him on our team,

i remember he had some trouble early in his career but he has really come around and i would say he is now a top center in the nba league

Hibbert is not super strong...He couldn't do 5 push-ups as a rookie or at Georgetown...He hits the floor whenever touched when he doesn't have the momentum of plowing into an opposing player...There is a huge difference when a player is in the air and Hibbert is grounded moving his body into you..

I'll take DHow, any Gasol, crazy dude in Sac...

tj23 @ 5/17/2013 10:41 PM
I agree. Some are good plays, but most are the same exact plays Melo has always gotten calls on. Where's the consistency? They are calling little swipes but not body contact and that's benefitting the quicker pacers. Our offense basically runs through Melo, so if he can't get it going then most of our other guys aren't getting involved since most if them are spot up shooters. I thought Bass and the C's did a great job on Melo, but this series has been on the refs. I'm fine with letting them play, I like a physical game but when you beat your man and get to the rim with a strong attacker like Anthony, that's usually a foul.

i'd take dhow and gasol and the crazy guy too,

but i'd also take hibbert over tyson any day

maybe he just seems strong to me because he is all up in tyson's, all series

I have been thinking this the whole series too. Hibbert is getting away with this. But just wait till they play the Heat. Hibbert will get called every time he breathes on Lebron.

Did you know that Melo drew more foul calls than Lebron this year?
playa2 @ 5/18/2013 9:50 AM
Better Interior passing defeats the Hibbert issue most of the time.

Most of our penetrators don't look to draw Hibbert and dish to the man he was previous guarding.

Most of our penetrators or drivers are looking to score themselves.

Now if Hibberts man continues to position themselves to receive the pass we could start to open up our options with a drive and kick offense that we use to use on a regular basis.

Instead of always trying to bully ball against the likes of Hibbert we need to move the ball and loosen up the Pacer defense.

Cartman718 @ 5/18/2013 10:52 AM
do you see how many of those plays felton was involved in? we need to involve him more, because in these playoffs, he's been the most consistent player. i still want him taking the big shot at the end of the 4th, but he could put us in a position where we wouldn't need that shot. imagine a pacer's big guarding felton on a switch and what raymond could do to him. we need to play outside in, different from the pacer's advantage.
playa2 @ 5/18/2013 11:14 AM
When we space ourselves and not always try and finish at the hoop we become unpredictable on offense and the bottom clip was without Melo in the game going Iso. Melo needs to recognize that the knicks play better when he receives passes after ball movement not just going one on one, save that for the 4th qtr when everybody is nervous too shoot.

Will the knicks would buy into this philosophy

yellowboy90 @ 5/18/2013 11:58 AM
TYson is not constantly rolling hard like he used too.

Ha, says it all really. Love it when the nba changes the rules to better suit an individual player. Compare those non calls with what defenders get whistled for when guarding Durant- are the refs even using the same rulebook?! Wonder what would happen if Hibbert 'guarded' Durant...

What does that have to do with what Silver said? Chances are pretty good that Hibbert wont get away with committing those same fouls against Lebron regardless of how many fouls Melo drew this year. You cant tell me you dont think Hibberts not getting away with that foul a lot this series.

If the ball keeps moving like in the clips, no telling how hard Tyson will roll to the basket when he knows he could be on the receiving end based on the Knicks constant ball movement.

if Tyson rolled hard the offense would open up and he would get more opportunities by not rolling the pacers get to play 2 on 1 with the ball handler

Teams are wise to Tyson's roll..Boston defended it well...Indy is making Felton take that shot over Hibbert ...Teams are ready for that...

He's gotten away with a few fouls. I've seen Melo and most players get away with a few too. The whole world isn't out to get Carmelo.
