Knicks · Plenty of reasons to be optimistic (page 1)

Coming off a loss like this is tough, especially seeing how a decent series from Smith would have been the difference. I am excited though. Shumpert has been a great surprise. He got his spring back plus he is now armed with a deadly 3-point shot. He has bigtime potential moving forward and will be the biggest reason for improvement as a team. We found another cheap upgrade in Copeland and if we can resign him, we have another nice piece for the future. We have our own draft pick, something we didn't have last season. We are armed with the MMLE and cash, so we have the ability to upgrade via FA and use 3 million for trade of players or acquire an extra draft pick. Also Grunnie has shown the ability to find unconventional ways to upgrade and with the way we fell short, I see him being aggressive this offseason instead of just standstill. I am excited to see what happens this offseason, I expect a lot of movement.

+1000. You're right on the money. It's the only thing missing from his game. The man needs to finish much stronger at the rim moving forward. He's got too much size, strength and athleticism not to.

Shump can be a star. Very excited about him. Unfortunately he's also our best trade asset.

I doubt we trade him. He's a great fit next to Melo moving forward. He is now part of the core having replaced stoudemire. He has a ton of potential though.

Their are always guys willing to play for less if they can get minutes. See Chicago.

Knicks will have the minutes for guys to earn larger contracts.

Who did we really bring in that really helped us this year? Felton, Prigioni, and Kenyon Martin who was brought in midseason. Most of the roster and the guys who got most of the minutes were players who were already here; Melo, Tyson, Shumpert, JR, and Novak were already on the team. And we also had more maneuverability because we could do sign-and-trades last Summer, this year we probably won't be able to.

Grunwald has really impressed me. I can't wait to see what he does with a first round pick.

I am sure Kevin Wilson is working on that right now. Saw something that said Cope was only scouted by one other nba team last year.

Poor man's version? I don't remember them having a season better then the one we just had. Not sure how you came up with that comparison outside of the Woody connection.

In their best 2 season they got swept in the 2nd round. They never won a division title and won 53 games once. So how are we a poor mans version of them again?

Fair enough. It was a bad exaggeration. We haven't achieved much more than last decade's Hawks and I don't see how anything you cited (adding more guys like Prigioni, etc.) will change that.

reason to be optimistic: can watch spurs memphis series in peace without worrying about outcome, and it will be monster epic series

I hope the Knicks are able to bring back Copeland,Martin and Prigs but it is doubtful.
