Hibbert is the new thing. Well...having a big center is not really new but in today's NBA it is a new thing and teams do their usual dance of copycat.
Chicago is going to be looking for somebody to match up with Hibbert and they have some identical parts they can send out.
Would you trade Tyson for Deng straight up? Tyson with Thibs would be gold.
Deng with Melo in the frontline? Deng's contract is also 1 year shorter than Tyson.
Trade makes no sense. They have Noah who is younger. Plus they need Deng for his scoring.

Tie up about one third of salary on two players very similar to each other but the one you alreay have is better?
Noah is better than Tyson.

Deng is mediocre. I'd rather wait and see if Tyson gets back to normal.

Not to mention Tyson's trade value is at an all time low, considering how he was abused in the Indiana series... Praying that once he's had time to heal up, Tyson can regain his old form. Centers are so rare, it's gotta be worth the risk of waiting at this point.

I know this is a bit off target, but you make a great point with the center being the new thing.. not many teams have a big like hibbert, who can just flat out change games.. I was looking at the sixers and Bynum, if he returns to form, it won't take long for that sixer team to be a factor... so while I agree with trading chandler, we better get some big able bodies in return.

absolutely. Even a limited Big lit Chandler is better than no true big. To bad there are so few "game changing" centers out there.

I actually think Tyson can check Hibbert. Tyson had no problem defending Dwight or Bynum. The reason I want Deng is because I think he can contribute more than Tyson for the Knicks.

Thank goodness there are so few, cuz unless you have one then Tyson is a good alternative!

Hibbert at this moment is way in teh discussion for finals MVP. I know it hurts the Starphuchers to have been defeated by such a "common" group as Indy was, but reality is what it is.

yep, and the problem just wan't chandler.. when he came out, we went with kenyon who was just too small...
I'm not opposed to getting a SF. Melo is best at the 4 but I think we need better guard play
Chandler is still a top ten legit center in the NBA.
Some might even argue top five, depending on what you're
looking for in a center.

does anyone remember the three straight 20-rebound games.
Definitely top five in on-ball, help side and pick-and-roll
defense. Second in the NBA in 2-point field goal percentage,
at a healthy 63.8 percent and a year removed from winning
Defensive Player of the Year. One of the few off the court
good guys. He was also one of the few rocks during the regular
season that didn't miss that many games.
To replace him, you're either going to have to take a chance
on a knucklehead that could go off any moment or roll the
(Mc)Dyess on an oft-injured player.

The pacers are big and are out rebounding the heat exactly the way they did the knicks, everybody rebounds the ball on that team, and everybody defends and are in a position to rebound..
