Ok..I'll dig up the info myself....If these photos are to be believed, JR went out with French Montana after a game 4 loss to the Celtics on Sunday April 28th and the claim was he returned to the club again on April 29th...Well the story was supposed to be he was partying the night before the game, which JR refuted...The next Knick game was game 5 on Wednesday May 1st..

Fish knows where I stand with Melo, I have similar issues with Melo as he does and he is right can't have two volume scorers on the floor at the same time leads to excessive empty possessions. That is what we saw in Indiana series.
I know it always becomes about Melo but he is the franchise player.

I am pretty sure a 3 year deal at 24m with the 1st 2 years guaranteed would be enough
And had he not played as poor as he did after the Terry incident this play offs, that would be a very fair salary for his age and what he accomplished the other 82 games this season

We will be lucky to retain JR's services for the upcoming season...Dude play like an all star in stretches...He just needs to transition from streaky play to consistent play, toning down the ups and downs...The problem isn't with JR per se...The Knicks need another scorer to compliment Melo with JR being the third option off the bench...I don't know how Amare fits into all this and don't really think he does...If we need to trade Chandler to get that player, just get it done...Then we add defensive pieces to sure up the middle and the bench..

Fish commented about *both* JR and Melo, not just Melo. Even after Fish's comment, this didn't have to be dragged towards Melo.
I also would say, in general, Fish has been very fair in his assessments of Melo.

It wasn't just the box score, JR wasn't flat out careless with the ball this season like he was the previous year, like he has been throughout his career. You saw few bad plays this season that made Woodson give him that "WTF JR?" look .
Even though his main role was being the number one option on the floor when Melo sat, he was also a good facilitator and took much better care of the ball. At times he did a good job as the de facto PG. All of that went out the window in the playoffs, unfortunately.

I bring MElo into it because they are similar player. Neither create. Both take low % shots in large volumes. Why bring Melo into this? Because he's staying, so what type of player fit around him?
We we have seen JR and MElo together in the playoffs in Denver and NY now. Im good, Ill pass.
Maybe add Jamal Crawford, Corey MAggette and All Jefferson?
Melo is what he is. He's good. If he's gonna win here (as in the playoffs) he needs a lot of help. JR isnt the kind of help he needs. Thats it. Not a thread hijak. Not an attack on Melo. There is no need to. Melo's performances continue to speak for themselves. We need better players period. JR doesnt lock anyone down, or fill the stat sheet with much more usefull than jacking shots.

everything you see needs to be informed by whether you can picture this guy coming up solid in a conference finals series.
my impression is that he comes up way way short when it matters most, and a final four series is when it matters most since that is the ceiling for this team with melo as the main.
then you have to be concerned about his lack of professionalism with what seems to be a substance abuse issue and whatnot.
Financially we either get him or lose his slot. We don't get to use the money.
Can we sign him and trade him down the road? Perhaps.
He is an asset and at 5mm he is not a huge risk.
