the old testament is more concrete--- best example to my mind is the book of proverbs,

Prov 16:44 “‘Everyone who quotes proverbs will quote this proverb about you: “Like mother, like daughter.”

Do not answer a fool according to his folly,
or you yourself will be just like him.
Answer a fool according to his folly,
or he will be wise in his own eyes.
