U are not understanding...He is not saying bad players are leaders..He is saying because u are good, this alone doesn't make u a leader ...
Bill Russell was also quoted as saying the best player he had on his team was himself. You look at those rosters and it's hard to disagree.

those are the stats of an Allstar, not a leader. You do realize that team leaders have just as often NOT been the leading scorer on the team right? A leader is someone who, through example or charisma is able to motivate and get people to follow them. Just as often as not its the force of ones personality as it is talent that makes a leader.

Shaq was NOT a leader. A leader doesn't often come into camp out of shape. The leader on that team WAS Phil and not just because he was the coach. If anyone was the leader on that team it was Kobe who's insane work ethic and demanding nature would not allow him to except less that a total commitment from his teammates. Thats why he was so pissed at Shaq ALWAYS coming into camp fat and bloated.
Shaq is and was TOO MUCH of a kid to be considered a leader by anyone. People don't view clowns as leader. You may like to be around them, but they don't inspire you to follow them.
Id be happy for a guy who can shoot 50% and we are talking about leaders??????
