Let's not overreact. Hopefully, the Knicks knew what they were doing here. Picks for this team are rare; I hope we made the right decision. But I'm not going to kill the pick until we see him play on the NBA level for a few months.

I've been watching this kid a lot this yr, and this was a very solid pick..I even started a thread about drafting him or seth curry..I really don't see why anyone would be disappointed, they worked him, they scouted him heavy, and he fits the system...This a role play draft to begin with, not to mention he came from a good program that has produce a lot of good players..

People don't seem to remember that some kids just need a little tweak to their form and all of a sudden they hit for higher %. It's entirely possible that T Jr. got some instruction, put the work in and tightened up his shot. It's not like he was far off to begin with. You also can't tell how much of a players struggles are due to the college system they play in. We'll see what the kid has eventually, but I feel OK with the Pick. They had all the other players in for a close look and this is who they were most impressed with of the guys left on the board.

He shoots that 3 similar to his farther, and he's pretty athletic, and takes it to the hole way more the JR and Shump

I think many fans look for the splashy player every draft. They ignore that the boring guys that the Spurs and Pacers draft end up being much better than predicted. Often times players are more suited to the NBA than the college game and they blossom when they get in the pros.

Uh no. This is a typical short sighted draft pick. Of course Tim Hardaway will likely be able to give us minutes next year. The problem is we are ultra thin and heavily reliant on Melo putting up points. Melo is almost 30.

Rather have traded out of the first round all together.

He might not be as good of a shooter as a player such as McLemore or Bullock, as much of a creator such as Ledo, as hard-nose of a defender or freak athlete as Oladipo, but Hardaway Jr. does many things solidly on top of being a clutch shooter. To me combined with his knowledge of the game from his own learning and from his dad and being the ultimate team player, he could be a very good player for a team such as the Spurs or Bulls!"

Really? Being better than someone who put 6 pts and 3 ast while shooting 37% fg and 35% 3fg and who didn't score a point in 10 straight playoff games to end is career is the bar for a great pick?

We needed someone who can create a shot. Plain and simple. Knicks arent winning a championship next year. We arent the Miami Heat.

Im over the pick at this point. Hopefully we make some small trades to bring in help.

You're assuming that was an option. I think Grunwald found out that teams just didn't want to do a deal with us. I have to believe they looked into trying to get a pick. I'm guessing the Knicks will be looking to bring in a lot of undrafted players and D League players. They don't have a lot of options. Hardaway was a solid pick. Perhaps not spectacular, but you pretty much know what he is and that he'll be able to contribute. He's a legit NBA player. T Jr. will likely be a faster, more athletic Martell Webster. I think he'll be able to defend better and drive and finish better than Webster on the NBA level. Last yr. in 29 mpg Webster was 11.4 ppg, 3.9 rebs and 1.9 asts. I think T Jr. can be more productive than that.

Jkid started all season while healthy. I think Timmah can start and mosdef surpass that production. Which would make him an upgrade. No?

As far as management is concerned, we will always compete for a championship. Hardaway is the opposite of JR, but has the same catch and shoot offense you need around Melo. Me personally, I like his maturity, and focus. He wants to get better, adn his dad will not allow him to fail. Can't ask for a safer pick, while adding cheap pieces to fill a void. JR, Cop, Pablo, Kidd.....4 possible guards we could lose this year.

I've said this before....We have too many one on one players. Thats why the ball is always sticking. 1st Melo, then JR, then Amari....next is Cope off the bench. You need more balance.....

Catch and shoot players help create spacing and ball movement. The two things we needed on offense. I hope we don't sign JR. Add more pieces through free agency!

I finally came up with a reason to like this pick. If he sucks I get another chance to boo Tim Hardaway.

Dude this team is riding on the back of Melo's heroics.

This team WITH Kidd, Prigs, and Smith looked done before Melo went on a tear to end the season.

Tim definitely won't be out partying late during the playoffs or getting suspended while giving a dead opponent second life. Loving this pick even more

How the hell do you really think you build a winning team if you don't start to add some players who are actually GOOD in a team concept? We can't have a team without guys who can execute basic, high efficiency offensive plays. The screens, curls, PnR plays that we often failed to execute are much easier to do when you have a player who can actually use a screen and catch and shoot!!!!

The offense broke down and got stagnant cuz we had too many guys that couldn't perform a simple catch and shoot, but needed to hold the ball and go ISO in order to try and score. Just watch the Spurs and how they have constant motion, which would lead to good shots. Now if we can add a breakdown drive and kick PG to the mix then things really start to pick up.
