Knicks · Beck Reporting Knicks trade for Bargnani (page 6)

People keep saying that Novak and Camby did nothing last year. You are correct but what you are failing to add is that Bargs did nothing the past 2 years and he is getting paid 11mil per. So we trade nothing for nothing yet we have to give up picks and they don't?

But with Camby gone their goes the rest of our interior defense except for Tyson. Is getting K-mart back a sure thing? People here killed Gallo, wait till this dude steps on the floor. Couldn't we just get Ryan Anderson instead for cheaper still?

Camby couldn't get on the court because his feet were so fragile. He wasnt the interior defense and this is the first I have heard anyone say anything positive about the guy. This was a good move. If 39 year old Camby suddenly heals, becomes motivated and is able to play for a year the raps got really lucky. This was a salary dump. Camby is only owed 181,000 next year. The Knicks weren't supposed to be able to do anything. A bit surprised at the reactions here.

This. Bargnani has a lot to prove because like you said he hasnt done much the past 2 years AND is injury prone. I dont care if its a high first round pick. we also agve away 2 2nd round picks and the drafts will be much better than 2013
yellowboy90 @ 6/30/2013 7:31 PM
well I called this trade minus the picks. hopefully its just 2nd rds
TeamBall @ 6/30/2013 7:31 PM
So is he gonna come off the bench? I remember reading that Woodson is committed to having Melo be the 4.
EnySpree @ 6/30/2013 7:37 PM
The Knicks have their hands in Europe and are paying attention to the draft as evidence from this year signing cj leslie...signing cope and priggy. They have all bases covered. No draft pick is not that pig a deal...if we want a second rounder we can buy one.

CrushAlot wrote:Awesome trade. Knicks needed to do something and they need a big that can hit a shot. I think this a steal. A bit surprised by the negative reaction from some. Knicks gave up two guys that did nothing and a first rounder for a guy that is 6'11 and a former number one pick.

Yeah but come on dude, this guy never played like a #1 overall pick, even when completely healthy in his heyday...You think Amar'e's a bad rebounder -- you know what this guy's career rebounding average is? 4.8 rpg. That's crazy man. Wow, under 5 rebounds a game! This guy's 7' 260!! Not a great defender either. And he got booed right off the court this past year in Toronto. How do you think our fans will feel about him when they see the soft offensive game, no rebounding and no defense at 7'? For Camby, Novak and a 2nd round pick (maybe 2 future 2nd rounders) it would've been a reasonable trade. To include a 1st rounder for this guy is overkill.

And also, this trade makes zero sense if they really are trading Chandler too and don't get back proper value. We really need to get back something decent for Chandler -- no idea what that could be if this hypothetical deal is with the Warriors...D-Lee, Draymond Green and a pick would be cool. Or something revolving around Bogut maybe?? Could we get that for Chandler?? Rumor has it that there might be a 3rd team involved...Still trying to confirm.

Bargs is due for a return to his true levels of production. Sometimes bad things happen to good players. IMO Bargs is not the guy people saw the last 2 years when his health didn't allow him to really play. Bargs had a couple of freak elbow injuries last year. He landed wrong on a drive the basket on one injury and i'm not sure how he got the 2nd injury later in the year. It's not the kind of thing likely to happen again. I think it's more likely Bargs will play more like we saw when he was playing well. If that's the case then we got an upgrade, cuz Camby and Novak combined aren't as good as Bargs can be if he's healthy.

Someone on twitter said something interesting. Massi said his number 1 prioity was to trade bargs. You think if the Knicks said we would do this trade without the 1st rounder he would not accept?

Everyone kicks our butts in trades. From the bulls to the nuggets and now to the crappy raptors.
Not this one. What did you think the Knicks would get for two guys that could be waived and a first rounder?

well we better hope that a change of scenery lights fire under him and he doesnt get injured yet again. However you can understand why our fans are so reluctant. The past 13 years we have made so many blunders in trades for injury prone bloated contracts
nyk4ever @ 6/30/2013 7:44 PM
holy shit this is a great deal!!

i know bargs has had some injury problems but he's a dead-eye shooter and will really allow melo to operate download. this trade is a absolute no-brainer. who cares about the 1st rounder? bargs is a border-line all-star

So you think we kicked butt in this trade lol. Let me tell you i have seen many raptor fans genuinely thank us for taking a guy they were gonna amnesty. They got 3 future picks for him. He is a former number 1 pick taht has never lived up to that, also his motor has come into question and his health is a major issue

yeah but there were teams also after him. I don't like the inclusion of a 1st rd pick but it's unlikely to be a lottery pick. It's basically giving up 3/4 rotation players for a guy that will give you cap room in 2015 and may fit perfectly next to a rejuvenated Chandler and Melo.

Would anyone be made at the trade if the 1st wasn't included.

maybe DJ will be a knicks fan again

The health thing is overdone. I think people in Toronto are just ready to move on. Sometimes that happens but it doesn't mean he can't play. They had so many expectations and thus can't live with the reality of what he is. Here we will just accept him for what he is. A big that has all kinds of scoring ability. WE NEED SCORING. We need players that can stretch the floor as well as post up. Bargs can play. Don't let the last 2 seasons cloud your judgment too much. Last year he had some freak arm injuries and they're nothing to worry about going forward.

I bet they both start. Melo will be the 3 but really be playing 4 on offense. This is best case for Woodson as he can play Melo as a 4 on offense without getting beat up trying to defend big men a lot. Having a true stretch 4 was always the solution to the Melo at the 3 or 4 debate.

A soft big man who gets injured? Our front office blows.
