I mentioned this before, but I think the Knicks still need more fire power....
Tyson Chandler sucks but he actually does fit well with Bargnani and Melo on paper...
The pelicans actually need a center and Tyson supposedly is a leader. I think he along with Holiday and Tyreke Evans make them a play off team.
The knicks would have a starting lineup of Bargnani, Melo, Shump and Eric Gordon with whoever at center. A lot of you would want to punch me in the face cuz we have no center, but there are a few guys out there we could pick up to fill in on the cheap. Zaza Pachulia? Sam Dalembert?
Keep in mind that Amare, JR and Raymond would be coming off the bench. That is a stacked lineup. A lot of offensive depth and enough guys still around from last year to still have a competitive defense. A lot for guys that can guard multiple positions.
I can see this team moving the rock and having everyones minutes low and simply blowing teams away....cuz who do you guard? You can always dump it to Melo at the end. Or go small with an all guard lineup. Or go bigger and still have offense out there.
Tyson got exposed in the playoffs and has been regressing even though he had the defensive player of the year award and first team all defense. I think both titles were given because of reputation. The knicks defense got better because Woodson took over. His schemes are really good and guys bought in early. I think Woodson could do it with this group I mentioned.
Anyway, Eric Gordon even though he's injury prone, he is a dynamic offensive threat. Bargs is coming off injuries, Amare, Melo too...we'd be taking a big gamble but the talent would be greatly improved on this team. I maintain that the Knicks could definitely find someone to man the middle for the veterans minimum and split time with Amare at Center.
I'm up for moving Chandler if a good offer is there, but I would rather trade or sign for a big first before moving Tyson. If he was gone and we couldn't find a decent replacement we would be in trouble IMO. Even with his flu spells he is still one of the better defensive big men in the league.
Chandler also played in a strike shortened season, followed by the olympics, then right into last season. Maybe with a full summer off to rehab we'll see less flu Tyson. But like I said, I'm still open to offers.

I agree that he regressed last season but he is still one of the better big men on D when he's healthy. Still doesn't excuse some of his performances however. Like I said, I don't mind trading him but lets see who his replacement is first before shipping him out, or just trade him for another big and some complimentary pieces to make the deal work.
