Those who said Woody didn't blow the series but Pacers were just a better team need to read this

Pacers coach Frank Vogel also thought the Knicks 29-year-old rookie should’ve played more in the second round. Knicks coach Mike Woodson took some heat for not playing Copeland more in the playoffs as he was never a big fan. The former Belgian Leaguer got two third-place votes for Rookie of the Year despite being in Woodson’s doghouse at times.

Copeland played in just three of the six games in the Boston series. He played in all six contests of the Indiana series, but some just in garbage time.

A friend of Copeland’s said last week he would have a tough time playing for the Pacers because they just knocked the Knicks out of the playoffs.

Gonna take something for Woody to win me over this fall, Copeland was a guy who could score with or with out Melo on the court and Woodson sucked eggs on the decision not to play him more. We should have played Miami period!

The Pacers, who eliminated the Knicks in six games, were looking to sign Copeland to an offer sheet with a portion of their mid-level exception of $5 million. The Knicks would technically have three days to match, but wouldn’t be able to under new collective bargaining agreement rules.

If the teams coach that beat you made this comment who paid Woody off for not playing him?

Did he have some old debts to play in his home town ? LOL

Just look at Indy signing him $6mil for 2yrs yet he was in Woodsons doghouse when we desperately needed scoring

Well listening to guys on the forum they thought Copeland on the court stretching the defense and making mismatches wouldn't have made a difference in the series. Frank Vogel just about said it himmself. I still remember when he entered the game in Indy and knocked down a 3 with the net barely moving , the Crowd gasped like they were in trouble. And then Woody took him out of the game.

Woodson is definitely on the hot seat cuz if Bargnani is healthy and he's not playing then he would have to be fired....I have this feeling he is going to have Bargs sitting on the bench looking stupid, while Melo and Shump start the season as the power fwd and small fwd combo....

Exactly what I think is gonna happen too. Woodson may have just wanted Bargs to fill a Sheed type role and intends on keeping our small ball, 2 pg lineup intact next season.

Also, it kinda hurts that Cope went to the Pacers of all teams.

I was one of the ones screaming the loudest about Cope not getting playing time. I really felt that all season Woody was being too hard on him. Novak is an even worse defender and got to play. I think Cope showed much more versatility as a player too. He could put the ball on the floor and get to the basket, post up as well as shoot the 3. Now we have to watch him playing for our nemesis.

Also Grunwald did a good job picking him up, but a bad job in not being able to secure Cope after developing this player. It's not the end of the world, but I don't like it.

This could cost Woody's job and it should. We all saw how Woody treated Copeland last season. If Cope dosen't come back it will be mainly because of Woody. Woody is a selfish coach and he is making some of the player just like him. No matter how bad JR was playing he kept him in there. And his no set plays drives me up the wall. Just give the ball to Melo or give the ball to JR and let him run around for 20 seconds with no one else touching the ball. Something must be going on because Copeland have not signed an offer sheet. If we don't have a second scorer we are done.

Nothing more than a case of Monday morning quarterback. Had Copeland played more minutes and shot 30% from the field people would be screaming that he shouldn't have played Copeland.

I have a hard time with that one too. Woody needs to learn to trust players better and that regular.season stuff which is gold for him doesn't carry in the playoffs. It's pretty obvious Woody didn't realize what he had in Cope.

SERIOUSLY he could be the perfect complement next to Melo if he had the green light like JR Smith had.

Look how he abused Hibbert and the other PF's on the perimiter

I'm happy for Copeland. He now gets a chance to play for a great young coaching mind with superior IQ. He will get the most out of Cope's skills

If he was allowed to play like he should have he would have helped make our other scorers get easier shots.
