Knicks · I have a question What is Allan Houston's role with the team (page 1)

Is he asst General Manager or something ?

I have to think him being a former Knick his opinion to build for a chip would be taken seriously since he's in good relations with Dolemite.

We never hear much of him, is he just a public relations guy or does he have player personal duties and responsibilities ?

Has anybody interviewed him and ask him questions about the direction of the team and what he thinks ?

Allan Houston has been named the GM of the Knicks' new expansion team, the Erie BayHawks.
Houston is being groomed for the Knicks' GM job but neither Donnie Walsh nor Isiah Thomas felt he was ready quite yet. Houston is owner James Dolan's favorite Knick, however, and he's destined for the big office.

I don't follow them much. Usually only when the Knicks have injuries and need a player (like when KMart, KT, Tyson, and Sheed were all hurt at the same time) I do think the d league is coming a long. All dleague games are streamed for free.

Well I would hope so, it would take serious gall to charge people streaming d-league basketball...

Copeland opted out of a guaranteed contract with Okapi Aalstar in Belgium to accept a one-year, nonguaranteed deal with the Knicks. But he struggled in his first summer league game.

“Allan was really on him about his body language and how he needed to play with energy at all times,” Spencer said.

Since then, Copeland has played well. In the preseason he averaged 15.5 points a game and had his best performance against the Boston Celtics, when he had 34 points and 6 rebounds.

Copeland knows he needs to improve his defense and become a better rebounder to stay with the Knicks for the entire season. He was able to accomplish one of his goals by being a better defender against the Nets. But Copeland also understands that Woodson will continue to push him. Woodson’s critique on Thursday will likely center on Copeland getting just one rebound Wednesday night.

“He’s been extremely tough, but that’s how you get better,” Copeland said. “He’s not on me just to be on me. He’s on me because he believes I can play.”

Yeah, I remember this news. I find it encouraging that Houston is making the effort to learn how to manage a team from the ground up and that mgmt is giving him that chance.
