According to Berman...could be pure speculation on his part but the stories are now beginning to shape themselves and more consistently concerning Melo's future.
After the Boston Celtics traded Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce to the Brooklyn Nets, Carmelo Anthony told friends that he expected the New York Knicks to pursue a trade for Rajon Rondo.Anthony believes Rondo would be a great fit for the Knicks.
The Knicks subsequently re-signed J.R. Smith and Pablo Prigioni, while also acquiring Andrea Bargnani in a trade with the Toronto Raptors.
The Knicks almost certainly do not have enough assets to acquire Rondo in a trade with the Celtics.

It doesn't seem like we did what we should have done this off-season...it's still young but the Barg trade really makes me angry. It was such an unnecessary move and one that could have been made any day of this off-season.

Could of been made by resigning Copeland. They rushed that deal, Free agency hadnt even started. If they were going to make a move with those picks I wish it was for a better PG
The Knicks couldnt have waited on the Barg trade for two reasons:
1) There were reports that GS and a couple other teams had offers out for Bargs
2) Even if the prior wasn't true, than the Raptors would have amnestied him on Day 1, which would've exposed him to a bidding process where some other team would've signed him to a bigger deal than we could've offered because of our lack of cap space.
If we really wanted him, we had to act prior the official opening of free agency to make sure we got him.

That was Masai duping the most interested team in giving up picks for his trash. He did this to us with the New Jersey bs...so there's no way I'm buying that.
You say to Masai we'll give up some picks but you're gonna have to wait until the moratorium passes before we make a final decision. Masai would have waited while at the same continuing to increase the perceived value of his asset.
Let's say Masai decides to make a different deal, in what way, form, or fashion does it hurt us if we're still willing to move Camby/Novak/3 picks for other available players?
I really get sick and tired of the mindset that deal we made was..THE ONLY OPTION OR DEAL WE COULD MAKE!!!! Please let's get to the day when we're operating from a position of strength instead of vulnerability, otherwise this crap is never gonna end.
Still doesn't address point 2- Masai doesn't get a deal together and he amnesties Bargnani so he can sign another player in FA (the way the Bobcats did with Tyrus/Jefferson).

He wouldn't have Amnestied him as long as he knows he can get a deal done with us and you communicate that consistently to him. Raps are not in the position to sign anyone of any significance Bobcats style...their cap is right at the Tax. Which does lend to the fact Amnesty may have been on the horizon for Bargs but not if Masai knows he has a deal, the guy is not a stupid GM by any means, one of the wisest minds in the biz right now.
He did what Calengelo couldn't do in 3yrs in a couple weeks, found a sucker in us.

Thanks I wasn't buying it myself dj just if thought concerns started to grow over their financial situation(from VDesai's post) then it was reasonable to believe he could be a candidate. The primary and ultimate goal was to trade him for the best deal and Masai would have waited. He's proven there, in particular with us on the Melo deal.
Celts traded half the team within their division, what do they care at this point what happens to their damaged goods? They are in tank mode, what do they want Shump for?
Send them some second rounders and cash.
Felton would rather play SG anyway, and imagine what a healthy Rondo would mean to this team? Dream with me a little.
