Knicks · do Knicks have best bench in the League? (page 1)

BigSm00th @ 7/16/2013 6:05 PM
huge question marks given the fragility of STAT and the recent surgery with JR.

but a bench consisting of Priggy Smalls, JR, Hardaway Junior, STAT, and Bargnani is pretty damn talented. no doubt in my mind that is the most offensive fire power of any bench in the League, unless I am overlooking someone.

do the Knicks have the best bench in the League? obviously the Media Haters (its "cool" for the Mainstream Media to rip the Knicks) and the Trolls (Isola et al) will never acknowledge actual strengths of the Knicks, but this could be a very good unit for us.

It's way too early to tell- we still have 4 or 5 roster spots to fill. Grunnie just did a conference call and said he's still after: K-Mart, a big traditional defensive minded C (hmm still hope for Dalembert? Still think he'll be a Mav, but what other C's are out there that match the description?) and a backup PG/combo guard (Murry? Or a vet?).

We still need some key additions!

How do we afford any of those guys? What can we offer now?

That's the problem- all we can do is hope the money drys up.
Unlikely, but we need some luck here.

To be fair we have a lot of question marks. Both Stat and Bargs are questions because of injuries, THJR and leslie have good potential but they are still rookie's, obviously now jr is injures, and the most important thing is taht we have no depth at C/PF
Finestrg @ 7/16/2013 6:53 PM
It still needs several pieces -- a rebounder/legit backup center (Barron?); 1 quicker potent PG (Brooks); 1 legit 2G now that there's some uncertainty surrounding JR, when he'll return and how long it'll take him to get back to 100% (Chris Douglas-Roberts) and possibly 1 more PF for further frontcourt depth. if they're serious about winning and going as far as they can with this team they've assembled, they'll fill these spots.

1 of those bench guys is starting. On paper it looks strong, on paper Marcus Camby was supposed to give the knicks 12 rebounds per 36 , Kidd was going to be the vet prescence helping us win close games in the last 5 minutes,Novak was supposed to help us spread the floor,Amare was going to be the 6th man of the year.Do u not remember A lot of people said the same thing last year

HA man that's so funny. NOT!

Look this team won 54 games and got to the 2nd rd and we had guys slumping and injured in the playoffs. IMO this roster is BETTER than last year and the bench is gonna be one of the better ones in the league. We've got a very strong top 10 already and just added MWP for 11 rotation capable players. So this team is 11 deep already and they can still add good talent to the roster.

We don't know if they will bring back KMart or add Nate or Brooks. Then we have the kids from SL that could be added to finish off the roster. IMO this is gonna be one of the best teams in the league. Knicks fans and media need to stop thinking of this team as if we haven't changed anything from last year. Just imagine how much of a difference it makes that we don't have Kidd who fell off after the 1st 2 months, no Sheed, KT, Camby or Novak!!! We're replacing them with better players.

AB is not an injury risk as some are making him out to be. AB is not STAT despite the injuries of the last 2 years. He's not even JR. Both STAT, JR and Melo have had surgery in the last 2 years. AB had a Wrist injury and then an Elbow injury last year and in the lockout shortened season he had a Calf strain. Those are not serious injuries in comparison to others which required surgery.

I think this is really good news. I believe it was Dyess that extended his career by not playing ball in the offseason.

Jared Zwerling ‏@JaredZwerling 3h
This summer, Stoudemire has adopted more swimming for cardio & to take stress & pounding off his joints. Has been training b/w NYC & Miami.

YUP. Gotta take a low impact approach at this point. I think it will help his body have a chance to recover and heal a bit or at the least not do any more damage. This with reduced minutes should really help.

stat on the Tim Duncan routine.

I think we are deep this year... not sure deep in what.
We'll see soon enough

Team is better. PERIOD! This was a #2 seed last year and now the bench is far better than it was. We still haven't completed the roster yet, but it's looking pretty good so far.

JamesKPolk @ 7/17/2013 6:37 AM
Tim Hardaway JR hasn't played a game in the league. How is he any upgrade over anyone?

Bargnani is hot garbage.

Amare is unreliable and a shell of himself.

JR Smith had serious knee surgery that will affect
His athleticism.

Prigioni is the only solid and reliable player of the whole bench so far.

Every year people drink the kool-aid around here. I remember when people got excited for an Eddy Curry and Jerome James frontline.

The team is 'better' yet their biggest need, aka a rebounding and defending big man, hasn't even been filled. And please don't say K-Mart. He's not a true rebound machine.

Nobody remembers when they're wrong. Unfortunately it happens too often around here so people are forgetting things all the time now.
