Toure murray and Jeremy Tyler
Toure Murray makes priggs expendable
Tyler is still learning, but he definitely knows how to play the post and runs the floor like a gazelle
Vmart @ 7/22/2013 10:57 AM
Earl Barron should be a priority.

Prigs expendable? Murry hasn't yet proven he can MAKE a team.

nyk4ever @ 7/22/2013 12:17 PM
why would priggs be expendable? he was a valuable backup PG last year and in some games was the best PG we had. murry did what? play in the summer-league games?
PresIke @ 7/22/2013 12:19 PM
sorry, but are you high or something? toure murray makes prigs expendable? really?

Exactly

Why are you guys so caught up on prigioni?
He's what now?...36/ what he showed us last season was his ceiling, he's not goignt to get any better or any faster
He cant drive past ANYONE, he cant stay infront of anyone
the little sneaky steal on the inbounds play, will be on other teams scouting reports. He can shoot the WIDE open 3, but its the NBA, who cant?
We used valuable money on him, when we couldve signed darren collison for the same amount
we could signed CJ Watson, who is hands down better, all around

So yes, I stand by what i said

Knicks were 16-2 when he started. Murry is an undrafted dleaguer hoping for a camp invite.

It's true, Prigs can't create much offense, and has the ball in his hands too much. But he has good footwork and certainly can defend. Still, I agree, he's not that valuable. That being said, no summer league player has proven anything, and CJ Watson isn't any better than Priggs. Both can defend and hit the 3. He's only a little bit quicker and doesn't have the bball IQ of Pablo. Collison is a different story. Coming off a bad year, but he would be a nice backup, and certainly an upgrade.

For those calling for Ivan Johnson, Zwerling just tweeted this:

Source: #Knicks have had interest in Ivan Johnson, but he's in market for mini midlevel deal. Could be open to min "depending on situation."

No way he's getting a MMLE...

SAS also isn't impressed with PRigs, but that's one of those things where some people are impressed with sick handle, Flashy drives and layups, blazing speed, but they ignore pure effectiveness. Prigs gets it done without flair, but he is very effective in setting up his teammates and keeping the offense flowing.

I love Murry as a backup PG and future player for this team. Murry has that smooth and mostly under control game. He's like an Octopus on D. He just corals his opponent with his long arms and quick feet. He seems like a natural PG even tho he's just now making the switch.

Prigs is going to take the role that Jason Kidd played for us last year. A coach on the floor and a glue guy with the team.

Can't argue with his defensive abilities, and he does do a few nice things with the ball in his hands. I just don't understand him playing ball for the years he's put in and having such a lousy jump shot.

45.5% from the field and 39.6% from 3.

I like Prigioni. He's awesome. And based on the learning curve of the NBA, he has upside compared to last season. He'll know his teammates better, the competition better, he'll be more familiar with NBA style and pace of play.

Basically, he isn't a rookie anymore and we'd expect to see adjustments with experience - and start the season along the lines of how he finished it. He probably has plenty of moves that we didn't see last year, and he'll probably see these highlights appear more frequently to go along with comfort level.

Teammates of good point guards need to learn to be more vigilant of what's going on the court, because you never know when they're going to thread the needle. Kidd was renowned for hitting unsuspecting new teammates in the head or body with the ball, and it's probably the same with Prigioni. He was, after all, the best PG in Europe for a time.

IronWillGiroud @ 7/22/2013 10:23 PM
he was far from the best pg in europe, ever

guy never scored more than 7 points a game AND NOT EVEN ONCE DID HE START EVERY GAME FOR HIS TEAM IN A SEASON!

maybe i'm confused, i thought we were talking about comparing prigioni to toure murray?

how did collison or watson come into the original discussion.

can we stay on topic? the question is whether toure murray is a better choice than prigioni for that roster spot. from my pov, it's hard to see much solid evidence that suggests we should risk the team in that regard on a player such as murray. sometimes these predictions are wrong, but you would have to be a fairly dangerous gambler to make such a decision as to cut a guy you just gave a pretty decent contract to and did well for the team last year, exceeding most outsiders' expectations.

9 assists per 48 min doesn't seem to fall into that category when actually it's a good deal higher than felton who averaged 7.7 assists per 48 min. unless you think toure murray should replace felton too?

funny thing is i think prigioni is a little better at the final pass than felton (who i think is stronger at other forms of passing).

CrushAlot @ 7/23/2013 12:40 AM
Regarding Prigioni:
Is He Saber-Friendly? Yes, but it might almost be to a fault. Prigioni is a very efficient scorer whose True Shooting percentage is right around 60 (for reference, saber golden boy James Harden’s is exactly 60). This is bolstered by a very analytics-friendly shot selection. Prigioni took 220 shots in the regular season; 191 of them came in either the restricted area or from 3. For a 40 percent shooter from behind the arc, this is an ideal ratio. Prigioni rarely does something he doesn’t want to do with the ball, and both his scoring efficiency and low turnover numbers are evidence of that. But that desire to stay within his comfort zone also means that Prigioni shies away from shots that he should probably take.

On the whole, though, that seems like a sacrifice the Knicks should be willing to make. Even in Europe, Prigioni was a pass-first player whose primary goal was to get good looks for his teammates, and that’s a trend that’s continued in New York. His 27.5 assist percentage (an estimate of the percentage of teammate field goals a player assists on when he’s on the court) is solid, and Prigioni (like most of the Knicks) takes care of the ball. New York is a very good offensive team, and maintains that effectiveness when Prigioni is on the floor. The Knicks’ points-per-100-possessions figure is almost identical with him on or off the court.

Defensively, Prigioni is athletically limited, but he’s also a willing defender. If asked to provide ball pressure on an opposing point guard, Prigioni is game and also not terribly ineffective. The Knicks actually give up about four points fewer per 100 possessions with him out there.

The right question to ask is why we spend the little money we had on a old guy who will not be able to take on the starting job if something were to happen to Felton. And we are counting on Shumpert to to do that we are truly fudged.
