Nate signs with denver for 2yrs/2mill..we couldve had him!!
Andrew @ 7/22/2013 4:44 PM
Did he want to come to NY?
callmened @ 7/22/2013 4:45 PM

Not for the minimum he didn't!

callmened @ 7/22/2013 4:55 PM
But we had $3mill to begin with (coudlve signed him then). Then we signed Prigs at 1.7mil (which i think is a lil high but i have more of a problem with giving a 2yr deal to a 36yr old player). Is Prigs almost as good as Nate at 2mill?!??!?!

Prigs is much more steady and a better facilitator and provides a settling veteran presence. Nate is great - but very streaky.

Could have given him the 1.7 we gave Metta ----- Not sure why we didn't and signed MWP to league min

Who is our three point shooter to replace Novak ?

Nalod @ 7/22/2013 5:53 PM
Assumption is knicks wanted him?

The Answer Man Takes A Wide Open Jumper

Q. helloharv - Who is our three point shooter to replace Novak ?

A. Bargnani. Who can also wheel and deal from the paint if needed.

nixluva @ 7/22/2013 6:19 PM
Nate would've been a good signing, but really there are a lot of high energy scoring PG's out there. No need to prioritize Nate when we had to make sure to sign Prigs, who provides continuity with the best BB we played last year.
The Team went 16-2 with Prigs as the starter. You have to make sure to bring that player back. This years team will have continuity for the 1st time in years. The guys running the offense have been here and know the system and their teammates.
Travla @ 7/22/2013 6:31 PM
I'm willing to bet that Woodson didn't want him. Nate has a penchant for going "off script" and coach doesn't like that. Woodson wants obedience more that raw talent.
ChuckBuck @ 7/22/2013 6:41 PM
It'd be nice to have him, but we need more facilitators at point.

I think we have enough scoring with the addition of Bargnani, the return of JR, and development of Shump and THJR.

If we can get Bobby Brown and/or Toure Murry that should be able to fill the backup PG need.

earthmansurfer @ 7/22/2013 6:42 PM
I love Nate, but I take Priggs every day and twice on Sunday over him.
It is telling that Chicago let him go AND HE PLAYED GREAT THERE.
Chew on that.

I think the Knicks went after Prigs right away with part of their mmle because he was who the team wanted. Nate wasn't an option once Prigs was signed.

same

callmened @ 7/22/2013 7:48 PM
while i agree that prigs is the better fit for this team, better defense and a pass first PG...nate is 7 yrs younger, an improved decision maker and a sparkplug off the bench. Id rather have prigs as the 3rd stringer and nate as the back up. am i gonna cry all night about it? NO! but it stings a lil because I think we couldve had him

I don't think so... the deal I saw reported was $2 million/yr for 2 years

RonRon @ 7/22/2013 8:33 PM
Prigs is a 3rd string PG and Nate is the better defender by far
Prigs cannot even go for a layup with nobody 5-8 feet away from him because of his lack of speed/athleticism
We outbid ourselves again for a 37 year old, we just don't learn from our mistakes

While Nate has the ability to penetrate through the holes of 3+ guys and finish
Talent over leadership or leadership over talent?
I am sorry, at some point you need talent if you want to advance in the play offs
Pablo and/or Raymond Felton have to be able to defend their positions if we have any shot in advancing, especially vs top tier PG's, I just don't see it happening with Prigs
I rather have Nate he could at least stay in front of his man, limiting some of our opponents options

Nate still has beef with NYK, Dolan, JR and MELO with the "fight"
He know's if he signs a deal with NYK, there is a good chance that he will be the next trading chip, especially at what we can offer him, and he just doesn't want to bring the ball up to pass it to one player

With a cost efficient Nate, I would not be surprised if Denver will test what Lawson can get them and look to acquire assets again

We should of went after Collison over both of them

Denver built their team around Lawson and running. I think they have two guys that can both push the pace and run teams out of the building. Not sure what their plan was this offseason though. Maybe they are going in a different direction.
