espn has him listed on the roster....not sure if that is accurate but, if so, I hope Woody plays him this time around.

The free agent tracker on nba.com has him as a free agent. Not sure what his status is but I think he would be a good pick up.

my guess is that although he may have a very decent big man body, he is dumb as a block. No other reason he can't stick on a team.

Even dumb players stick with a team when they have a useful skillset. I think the Weed conviction scared teams off.

never heard of the weed conviction but that would make sense too.

Sounds like Shawne Williams. Are you sure it was Earl? I googled it and couldn't find anything like that on him.

Are you sure that was Earl Barron?
If so that is really strange becuase Sean Williams had the exact same story happen to him.

He was smoking weed in an SUV and a cop smelled it and asked him to lower the window.
After he lowered the window Sean told the cop.. " I have to be honest... I also have cough syrup on me".
He was arrested but eventually paid a fine I think.

My mistake, got the 2 of them confused.

Damn, Earl has been all over the map since he left New York. Phoenix, Golden State, Milwaukee and Portland and he was eventually cut by them all. Gotta wonder if Martin was correct in questioning his intelligence. There has to be some reason ...5teams in 3years!!!!!!
CrushAlot @ 7/26/2013 10:04 AM
I didn't know about this with vet league mini deals,
As per ProBasketballTalk, the new CBA calls for the NBA to pick up approximately $515,000 of a minimum contract signed by any player with three years experience or more.

Theres a lesson learned here. He had an opportunity to rebuild his career with the Knicks, but decided to chase the money.....Look where that got him!

Good luck Cope!
