Knicks · Knick trying to get Udirih (page 1)

BRIGGS @ 7/31/2013 11:23 AM
This would really make us solidified--having a legit combo guard like him who certainly start play 6th man and or have a role in the 9 man rotation right away. This guy has been a high% player nearly his whole career and would provide excellent depth and be able to playmake with the additional space he would have here. Im hoping that at 31-32 that he takes the chance to win it all

I think with Tyson Andrea Martin Amare and Carmelo maybe along with 1-2 young bigs--we have a lot of minutes taken upfront but we need that 3rd quality G and hes perfect as he can play 1-2

If Woodson plays him . Add another crumb to the mix
ChuckBuck @ 7/31/2013 11:27 AM
That would be a very slick, shrewd move, if they could land him.

come on man, this all you got?

tkf @ 7/31/2013 11:29 AM
why is it taking a lot of convincing to get him here? i thought all free agents would flock here to come play with carmelo? or so I was told...

dude, if you got nothing to add, please move on.

NYKBocker @ 7/31/2013 11:34 AM
Beno would be a very good add. Would mesh really well with Melo. He is like a younger Pablo...well by 5 years anyways.

come on martin.. loosen up a bit, jeez.... no time for a little poking? I mean how many times have people regurgitated this myth that players will flock here to play with carmelo.. just some fun poking and jabbing.. no harm intended... but I will move on.....

no problem....

This would be a nice pickup. He is also pretty solid at PnR's, right?

Absolutely. He has a nice dribble penetration going also. He is also like a slower Lin/Dragic type player. Not saying that he is slow, just not in same speed as Lin/Dragic.

That is a reasonable question. We have four max/near max contract players, and we still aren't a very attractive option. If you spend your money on max contracts well, players will want to join your team.

At this point with what we have in place and off last year's success, I think we're attractive enough -- I think it just comes down to money with a lot of guys...And that's fine -- it would probably come down to that for me too. Little different I know, I'm a regular guy not a millionaire NBA basketball player, but like the majority on this board -- every job I've ever had in my life I have always left for a better paying opportunity. So I can certainly understand why these guys hold out for optimum money.

Having said that, man if we could get this guy...wow. Quality player....See what happens....I just hope we don't get too fixated on a longshot like this and ignore more realistic opportunities like Bobby Brown who wants to come he AND WILL take less. If Udirih spurns us and then Brown bolts to China, I'm gonna be pissed...At least come out of this thing with Bobby Brown. Beno would be tremendous on a min. contract though, no question..

I'm talking about vet min guys. So it's not a salary issue. The only vet min guy we attracted was K-Mart.

are their many vet min players that the knicks missed on? Vet minimums that the Knicks really wanted?

This is a move I LOVE! Whenever I see Beno play he does well. I would rather him than all the other rumored PGs. I refuse to get my hopes up only to have him go somewhere else.

World Peace. Prigs could have probably gotten more money in Spain or other. Jason Kidd could have stayed in Dallas last year, and JR certainly took less money previous to this year. Sheed came out of retirement for Woody but failed.
