Carmelo Anthony Believes 'Window Is Closing' For Championship

Carmelo Anthony conceded on Saturday that the years left of him contending for a championship could be closing.
"My window is closing," Anthony said. "I'm trying to bring a championship to New York ASAP."
Anthony believes he is in the best shape of his career.
Anthony was in the MVP debate for much of last season.

Carmelo has a problem when it comes to being real and a public figure. They are always gonna catch him saying something that can be looked at as big news.
When speaking to the youth he probably was letting them know that won't be playing forever. That is the truth. Say maybe 6 years? That's nothing. So he has 6 tries or less at trying to get a championship...after trying the last 10 years
of course its closing... something called time is a factor
but I'm looking forward to seeing how tkf twists this one around

Melo should know by now that his window is closed as of now NY is no place for basketball championships. He might be the biggest culprit for not winning a championship. You can be in the best shape of your life but if you mind isn't in the best shape of its basketball life you aren't winning anything.
Bring 26pt 8 Rebs and 6 assists on 50% shooting then Melo has attained championship consideration. Melo needs to stop pretending he is championship material he lacks mental aspects to be a champion, hero balls it when his team needs to be trusted lacks ball handling and passing ability to up teammates game and plays for a coach who is clueless about playoff basketball. All things considered window never opened for Melo.

Since he has been in NY he has lacked teammates once the playoffs rolled around. The Knicks have had a combination of injuries and no shows in the playoffs like no other franchise I can think of since Melo has been in NY.

That may be due to everyone can't play under the pressure of being in NY.
I'm still amazed at how many think just because you are a pro ball player you can handle the pressure of playing at Madison Square Garden where everything is magnified beyond basketball.

Personally, I am sick of hearing CA acting as a victim, to me, this is his way of opening the door on possibly opting out and leaving to a team with a higher chance % at a ring or getting leverage for a max/near max extension that would put us in mediocrity with 2 picks in the next 6 years
Maybe if we had the ability to LOWBALL Denver if CA would have just said "I AM ONLY SIGNING an extension with NY", like we should have, or if he was willing to sign with us in the off season (which actually is less than 7m difference if he intends to opt out next summer), we actually would have had the assets to build a TEAM around him that is good enough to contend with 2 way players instead of the many 1 dimensional players we have now, on top of saving our amnesty
We gave up many assets to acquire him, and also had to overpay for talents/trades to get better because GM's knew we were in "WIN MODE" with limited assets and cap space to sign anyone while we needed much improvement

I am trying to remember what trades the Knicks made since getting Melo. The ones that stand out are the Camby trade, the Bargs trade and the Felton/Thomas trade. I agree that in hindsight the Camby trade doesn't look good but in my opinion the Knicks didn't overpay in the other trades listed. Even the Camby trade is questionable as the guys traded are all out of the league and the second rounder re-upped in Europe for four more years so that 'asset' might not be as valuable as some have made it out to be. Also, I think you were very outspoken about what a bad pick that was and listed many guys including undrafted players that the Knicks would have been better off drafting. If I am wrong I apologize.
In regards to Melo's comments he seems to still not be aware of the media he is speaking with and just responds. There are many ways you could take what he said. I went to Knicksnow but couldn't find a live version of the interview so it is open to interpretation. My take is that he is getting older, every year he is more banged up and it takes longer to heal and recover. This year he had knee issues and his shoulder. If you are rehabbing instead of training things are different when the season starts. It catches up to most older players. I am sure you could take his statements many ways but that was my take.

good gosh-- way to dodge the crux of his post. it's not the subsequent trades it's the carmelo trade itself he is addressing.
Melo may not be a chip material but he is very much succeed as player, businessman, and entertainer.
He is a millionaire and celebrity. And he is actually one of the greatest offensive talents.
Championship is another story and as he has all other stuff pretty much completed he may start thinking about getting it too.
He realized that this is not possible in NY and started working on the exit ASAP.
I think he and his agent are very smart and proactive bunch.
