Knicks · Mora: "Playoffs? Don't Talk To Me (dk7th) About Playoffs!" (page 1)

misterearl @ 8/9/2013 7:35 AM
The idea of any offseason is to improve. Not just for the marathon of the regular season, but for the extra tough grind of the post season. The Answer Man rejects, and rebuts, any and all claims that his beloved Knicks are not rebuilt for a more productive playoff run in two words.

Jason Kidd.

Was he our player-coach and glue guy on the bench? absolutely. Did he mentor Felton and Prigioni? Without a doubt. He also failed to make a shot when it mattered most. In the playoffs. He failed so miserably that his retirement was not a choice. It became mandatory. You want stats? Kidd shot 12 per cent in the playoffs. twelve. 12.

Point being, with the acquisition of Udrih, the Knicks are better constructed for the post season. Is Beno perfect? Far from it. Celebrate his fatal defensive flaws all you want. My Slovenian Brotha from Another Mother will run the Knicks better than the dude who took the chedda and ran to Houston.

Udrih is intelligent, he is crafty and he will make more than 12 percent of his shots in the post season. Ron Artest will compensate for any defensive lapses. Kenyon Martin is suited and booted for the entire season. Even CJ Leslie, seated in the Harthorne Wingo Memorial Chair, can play a lick. They can all be trusted.

Bottom line. Our roster is better from to bottom. and built for May and June.

For the most part i really liked our offseason considering we didnt have much monet to spend. I really like our depth at PG and i liked the draft picks (Hardaway and Leslie. Still concerned about our lack of size which hurt us against Indiana and the Bulls. The Knicks have to be better in the playoffs. I know everyone was excited with 54 wins but this year i dont care about 50 wins i want this team to have a deep playoff run otherwise it wont be a success

Knicks size depends on if Melo plays the 3/4. If he plays the 3 then size is not an issue. This team has the pieces to play a number of ways. They can play "small ball" with a big or small lineup or play power ball. The key is health and gelling together for the whole season.

Ghosts from the past, and a carcass from the not so distant past. A fond final farewell to both. Happiness with many losses in your future to you both.

+1, obligatory of course.

How much IQ can we have in the backcourt? Prigs and Beno? Makes for a really bad reality show title, but I like it in my backcourt with the amount of shooters we have. Yes, inefficient shooters, but shooters none the less.

Don't like IQ, need you some athleticism? Meet PGs Ray and Shump.

As the AnswerMan is so very fond of saying this solid, yet non-bombastic off season, be still my heart.

hope they keep Melo at the 3 even if he wouldn't be guarding 4's, you don't want him banging with them, no matter what side of the ball he is on. Dude didn't start breaking down till he started playing the 4.

Is that from playing the 4 or just from getting older and having about 10 years of wear and tear? Maybe all of the above actually.

It's because he's always been injury prone, probably because he doesn't keep himself in the best shape. Since his rookie year when he played in every game he's missed 7, 2, 17, 5, 16, 13, 5, 11, and 15 games.

That strikes me as about average if not slightly better than average in terms of health.

I think it more likely a combination of both. He rarely if ever played the 4 in Denver so, was less accustomed to banging with bigger bodies. Being in the league 10years definitely doesn't help this; either way he needs to stay at the 3.

According to this person, the average player missed about 12 games due to injury in the 2007-8 season

not all those games are due to injury; suspensions, death in family, and CDs. Also last year was more about Dwight and s chair than anything age related.

Proper prospective is key. The same needs to be used for Martin too over the last few years. He missed games due to the lockout and waiting for more money than injury. I wad quick to jump on him for missing games until I thought more about it.

Thats a fine bit of statistical evidence to off set the emotional outpour of a MeloCritic with a false accusation about his conditioning. Melo missed an average of 10.11 game per seasons. He Micheal or Leborn, but thats not so bad!

We might be shocked to know players cannot give it 100% and fulfil their contracts.

If Melo is as good as we think he is, then his decline in the playoffs might be a point to argue about how he is managed during the season, and how he manages himself as well.

WE ask him to do a lot and our old ass team two years has melted down in the post season. We younger now so it should help.

Yeah, I always do my best to shield Melo from unfair criticism!

I can't wait for next season's nickname! (Maybe Mr. 10.11 MIA]
And the continual shielding of Melohaters from unfair "you're not a Knicksfan" critics!
