I don't see this happening. There is no need for a 4th pg or 4th sg. The knicks are stacked at both positions. if he wants to hang out with his brother get him an office job. What he really should do is go over seas and build his stock.
Also, the way JR's contract is front loaded suggests that signing Chris is not in the plans. Also, the Knicks will have his bird rights in his opt out year so they hold all the leverage to him gette the biggest deal of his career.

If this is based on the Zwerling article, bare in mind that he had an article earlier in the offseason citing a source that said their was absolutely no chance Chris Smith would make the team. So there you go- one source saying he will, one saying he absolutely won't.
Hopefully the latter is true- can't be wasting a spot signing a player who plays a position we don't need, and plays it badly!

this isnt the volves situation, we overpaid for jr, we received no discount of any such thing.
we are even the only team in this boat, the pacers DRAFTED Psyhco T's brother, but of course no mention of a package deal.
there is no deal in place between these two.

jackie robinson was challenging the status quo in terms of color-bias not in terms of who white owners and white players knew personally. obviously baseball and by extension our society would have benefitted from the beginning by allowing blacks to play in the major leagues from the beginning. the game would have been better with gibson and foster and paige... to name a few greats.
in terms of an ideal we would all agree that sports-- and perhaps society as well-- would benefit from a transparent meritocracy, ie a fair way to promote those who by their personal merit should advance-- bearing in mind that they would in turn be obliged to aid those who were not as blessed with innate abilities or equal station.
the challenge is how to keep the balance between meritocracy and aristocracy and avoid the various forms of corruption that are always lurking.

Nepotism, or favoritism... or personal bias are the symptoms of the degradation of modern society which dominated by bureaucrats.
Bureaucracy was progressive for a long time after replacing middle age aristocracy but became a huge determent to the progress of human race.
Bureaucrats of any kind, religious, government, business, military, tribal, unionized, etc. do not produce wealth but just consume it themselves and with their cronies and families.
The only way to move the progress forward is transition of technocrats to leading role in the society. And under technocrats I mean any people who produce wealth. Does not matter they are scientists, engineers, businessmen, workers, doctors, landscapers, etc. The society led by technocrats will promote meritocracy.
wasn't the plan to have an open competition at camp? I wouldn't be surprised if the 15th spot won the battle at training camp. I'm sure Chris Smith will be a part of that. I doubt Chris Smith gets signed. This is going to play out like Ewing Jr

Chris Smith couldn't even play at an average quality in Summer league. There are 3 players from our SL team, forget about all the other names out there that should make an NBA team before Chris Smith.
