Knicks · Excellent Bargs tape and why he should do well here (page 1)
BRIGGS@ 8/28/2013 10:46 AM
Notice in this video--he was able to get really nice position on most ctahces and the few times he didnt--he had great looks. Notice his passing ability as well. This is what this man should do here--he will not be playing C most of the time--so my guess is he will have a player 2-5 inches shorter on him in most cases. Than why shouldnt he have many night s like this--noit scoring 41 but getting high quality efficient shots OR finding guys with the pass for wide open shots. This team is a diverse offensive team--we are a better offensive team than Toronto--he should be able to play like this and I personally think he will and will propel us to elite level with the additions of Udirh Artest and Hardaway.

Your basically showing highlights of his career game. I don't see him doing to much of what we just saw. He will be dog house material here. Never thought to highly of 7' who can't shoot 50%.
yellowboy90@ 8/28/2013 12:44 PM
Hibbert is on the list of 7 footers under 50 during each regular season not comparing the two but just looking at fg percentage is not everything.

well in his defense, most 7fters who have a 50% or better field goal rate aren't shooters, they tend to be dunkers.

Remember he did average 21.5 points per game in 2009. I know he is not putting in 41 a game--but what the video shows is what he can do if he consistently gets GOOD position and keeps his 3 point shots to 2 or less. I don't mind situational or wide open 3's but if the coaching staff can keep him at TWO 2 3's a game his FG % should move back to above 47%. remember for his career 20% of his FG are 3 point attempts--that is way way too high. There has to be a statistics guy and someone with common sense on the KNicks that will say Andrea--14 feet or in UNLESS youre wide open. But you cannot set up at the 3 pt line if he does this Woodson should be fired quickly and bring in a coach who gets it--BUT I think Woodson gets it. This video proves what he can do playing a majority of plays 14 feet and in.

Hibbert is a defensive player. He is also an offensively challenged player that is what made losing to the Pacers a hard pill to swallow. Chandler made Hibbert look like Kareem. As for Barg he is an overall number one pick his category should be Gasol, Dirk level who are better shooters and percentage shooters. Bargs is on a spiral backwards in his career, last year he shot less than 40% the year before that he shot 43%. He has had two injury plagued seasons on top of that, I really don't see how this translates in Bargs having a good season. Just because a player puts on the orange and blue doesn't mean he will elevate his level of play.
If you take a look at his three point shooting that is dipping also 29% and 30%. If the Knicks goal is for him to jack three it looks like a failed idea.

Looking at tapes from his earlier years, he has a nice shot fake that allows him to get to the rim on his man. He drove the ball to the basket a lot on the tapes I watched and his outside shot is too good for bigs not to defend. Once they committed he got by them for an easy hoop. There is a great highlight of him doing that against Hibbert.

People want to go by what the rumor is and not what the tape says. The dude is a good player. Knicks will be better because of it.

Nobody has questioned his talent. In fact people ahve been very fair/objective when it comes to bargnani. Yes ihe can shoot for a big man and that will help against most teams. However the Knicks biggets weakness is inside. Also you have to take into account that Bargnani has been injury prone.

your right and I hope we get another big but, I see Bargs as more of a Novak replacement than an actual big. People focus on his size as opposed to his personal style of play. He is a big that never learned to play like a big imo.....more like guys who plays guard as a teenagers then has this huge growth spurt. At that point, it's hard to completely alter your game to suit what people think it should be because of your size.

Bargs game is nothing like Novaks... that's the point of the tape. You guys wanna say he is a Novak replacement but he is way more than a 3pt specialist. The dude can score all over the court and he will drive and dunk on your team. When had Novak ever done that.?
Bargs isn't Shaq and he isn't Patrick Ewing. The dude is still very good. He's a capable starter and legit scorer when healthy. Health is the issue. Training camp will solve all doubts.

I was never worried about his offense...its his lack of def & reb that scares me

you obviously didn't read or comprehend my entire post. I didn't describe Bargs as a one e dimensional 3point shooter. I said he played like a guard who had a huge growth spurt and never learned to change his game. That doesn't sound like Novak to me!!
As i've always said in the past, don't go by how a player was used on another team and in another offense. When Felton came to the Knicks NO ONE would have predicted that he would be able to put up 17/9. Sure they might think Felton would put up better numbers but not that. You have to take into account not just what the player did in the past, but who the coach is, his system or style and what the team has in terms of talent.
AB is one of the most skilled bigs in the league. There is almost nothing he can't do if he's coached properly. IF THE COACH puts him in the right spots and gets in his head what he wants him to do, then AB will succeed. Woody strikes me as a coach who looks to put players in the best position to succeed. He succeeded with STAT even tho STAT has bad knees, you could see how good he was inside when he was healthy. He succeeded with JR. I think he succeeded with many players on this team. So I have confidence that he'll put AB in the right frame of mind to succeed here. AB needs to not only use his skills outside, but more importantly he needs to PLAY BIG!!! Dude is 7-1 and skilled. No reason he shouldn't do well here.

If highlight videos showed why players would do well here, Isiah Thomas would have been a great GM

Barg's is going to stretch the floor and, if he stays healthy, give us the Bosh effect on O. Spread 'em, Hibbert!
And let's see, Woody took a career psycho and got him to SMOTY, and Melo averaged 8 rpg and showed flashes on D. Things can happen here.
The league owes us a year of health.
Watch the games!

Hello?!?! Lol...how come no one is concerned with his lack of def or rebs?
newyorknewyork@ 8/28/2013 5:36 PM
Bargs isn't replacing Novak, Artest is. Bargs is replacing Camby. Artest is going to see a lot of his mins at the 3/4 and Bargs is going to see a lot of his mins at the 4/5.
