Knicks · Look slike Beasley is going to be waived (page 1)

BRIGGS @ 8/29/2013 11:00 AM
He is 6-10 240. Would we take him as the 15th guy to be a PF insurance policy to Amare for the vet minimum knowing that we have a team full of vets to keep him in line--one mess up and out. He still has a lot of talent and only 24.
MaTT4281 @ 8/29/2013 11:05 AM
I agree that he definitely has a lot of talent, but I'm not counting on him combining it with any semblence of intelligence.
I'd pass. Just like he was a #2 pick for a reason, he is being dumped by teams left and right for a reason.

Give me Haddadi.

ChuckBuck @ 8/29/2013 11:06 AM
Woody's got enough on his plate, don't need to babysit this fool.

you make an excellent point, I always said this guy was a mental midget and will never reach his potential, but if you can get him for cheap, why not try? it's not like we have plenty of draft picks in the cut... we need to get a bit lucky... beasley won't cost us any more picks, so a one year flier might not be a bad idea.. if he sucks, let him go..

Absolutely. Talent outweighs any potential character issues that may arise. If they do arise, cut him. No brainer adding this guy. I'd then think long and hard about keeping Tyler and Leslie. I think there may be better players out there (Barron, Luke Babbitt, even Toure Murry).

he has a team full of fools and losers.. one more at this point for basically nothing won't hurt.. I mean you guys will find something redeeming for guys like JR and Bargnani, but not for beasley? I mean I don't like the dude much at all, but he is a better talent than both, and he is younger.. heck he is more of a low risk, high reward move.. it will cost us nothing.. hopefully he finally gets it together, maybe he won't but it won't cost us a thing..

franco12 @ 8/29/2013 11:10 AM
Beasley is going to want to have some kind of guarantee of potential minutes- I just don't see how we can promise anything, even with guys likely to get hurt.
gunsnewing @ 8/29/2013 11:19 AM
Cut Leslie sign Beasley and haddadi call it a day
Nalod @ 8/29/2013 11:19 AM
Beas, JR, Metta and why not Lamar!!!..........Getting to be a reality show line up!!!!! Bring back Marbs to coach and revive the Kidd-Marbs rivalry!!!

Then mid year we bring in "Darko" for another run.

Vmart @ 8/29/2013 11:20 AM
Knicks need a player JR can take under his wings.

I mean we already have enough going on.. beasley may just be another problem.. who knows.. but he has talent and won't cost us a thing..

But you keep expectations low, and see how it works out.. no threads with youtube videos trying to convince the fanbase that he is on the mend, and will be a stud for the knicks... LOL

azamatbagatov @ 8/29/2013 11:31 AM
Might as well take a shot at him, we can always cut him if keeps up his shenanigans
DurzoBlint @ 8/29/2013 11:34 AM
non-guaranteed contract or none at all. This guy has tested positive 3times. This goes beyond being a knucklehead....his pope sells dope...the whole family is full of malcontents. He's talented enough to take a chance but, don't guarantee his contract
jrodmc @ 8/29/2013 11:38 AM
Royce White for 15th man! Philly will give you him for a Starbucks gift certificate!

I would definitely consider that. He would be a look and see type of thing. If he brings it and bus in he is a monster talent to have as insurance

I would do the same for Ivan Johnson. Last thing we need is another sf like Leslie when we have Melo, Artest and possibly Shumpert. Knicks are retarded

The last thing we need is another SF when we have Melo, Artest, and possibly Shumpert...so bring in Beasley?

Ivan Johnson just signed in China. Was hoping either he or Haddadi would take the 15th spot. Could potentially come back after the Chinese season is over, as JR and KMart did in the lockout year.

Exactly. And at the most what are we talking about here -- smoking pot? He'll have to cut that out of course--wouldn't want him failing a drug test or getting locked up buying weed somewhere--but seriously, big f'in deal. Shit's gonna get legalized in NY sooner than later anyway. Just a matter of time...He didn't kill anybody did he? Never even heard that he's been a bad teammate going back to K-State. He can play both forward spots & he'd add substantial firepower to an already strong bench. The more firepower we could add, the better chance we'd have to sustain a high level of play if we ran into injuries to any of our frontline players (suppose Melo AND Bargnani ever went down for a stretch at the same time? That's a big hole to fill offensively). EVERY SINGLE GAME counts toward playoff seeding. There are very good teams in the East -- Brooklyn got better (they're not as good as they think they are however--they added key players past their prime and a rookie coach with zero experience--I don't see it all jelling the way they think over there in year 1); Chicago's got Rose back; Miami's the best team in the league, etc. I wanna see us take the regular season super serious this year, right from jumpstreet. Finishing the reg. season even 1 game better than any of these top teams (and also head to head season series against any of these teams) could mean the difference between a championship or not.. In the NBA home court's HUGE come playoff time, above any other sport probably..

All we would really need then is a capable NBA-ready center (Earl Barron all the way---I don't trust Jeremy Tyler in this role---no projects anymore) and then maybe another decent SF (to me, Luke Babbitt's a much better SF option over CJ Leslie). Even a guy like Toure Murry makes some sense. Nice combo guard with pretty good skill -- Murry's further than Tyler and Leslie in my view. We could really stand to tighten up the last 2 spots. I think there are better options out there over Tyler and Leslie. If we had to tap that deep into the depth, I want guys that can fill in and play at a semi high level if called upon.

It worked really well with Shawne Williams.
JesseDark @ 8/29/2013 1:34 PM
What is the reason he is being released? I'd see how what we got already looks in preseason before pursuing him.
Nalod @ 8/29/2013 1:38 PM
My gut says theres more to this than meets the eye.
