he was talking to a bunch of little kids when he said that, stop using bs to further your agenda. I really don't care if he or any other baller smokes a bit in the off season. As long as he stays clean from training camp till the end of the post season.

My God, you're still defending this AH. Exactly what does JR have to do for you to tear down those tiger beat posters? My agenda for this team is to sign players who don't torpedo us at the worst possible moments, who don't get suspended for stupid ish like this. If he can avoid testing positive, I don't care if he's the second coming of Peter Tosh, but he didn't, and you're still defending him.

No one is defending him, its a small issue (in my mind), don't really care about it but, that doesn't excuse you from using BS to further your hate agenda. I was calling out your use of his camp with the kiddies to try to made him look even dumber is weak....in the words of Marc Jackson...YOUR BETTER THAN THAT.

You would have an argument if this was simply an offseason thing, but as chronicled, he does this during the season and ESPECIALLY during the playoffs.

Guy's a selfish phucktard, will party, do drugs whenever he wants, without regard of consequence.

No defense for this asshole really...

Once again, where did I argue in JR's favor. My post was regarding his statement about JR guaranteeing a Title. Had little to do with the weed which I clearly said I don't care bout.

Why is it when you disagree, people seem to stop reading and make sweeping assumptions that are wrong.

It's just another part that adds to "JR Smith's stigma".

What does the barbs with Pierce, the guarantee of a title, the armored car, the dyed hair really do in the grand scheme of things? Nothing. But you add everything little thing up, and it get tiring as phuck!

Dude's had enough bad press, enough run ins with the law, enough drug use, enough suspensions, enough bad ink(literally and figuratively)....when's it time for this immature prick to grow the phuck up?

You know you hear that phrase "Three strikes and you're out", well JR might be on his 5th or 6th strike as far as most people are concerned...

Even then.

A game winner in the regular season doesn't erase 33% shooting in the postseason when it matters most.

I'll give JR one positive. Nobody texts and social media's quite like Earl JR:

Entertaining as hell!

Still waiting for an updated JR special on MSG about how he's turned his life around. Go back to his hometown again. Interview his parents again you know

Not defending him? Of course you are, talk about weak. As far as my "hate agenda" look back at my posts about JR all of last season up until the playoffs. I was one of his biggest defenders, but I'm willing to admit when I was wrong about someone changing their stripes. You keep using the word "hate", that's fanboy talk. You called it "hate" when I said JR should get no more than a three year deal, if he got any deal at all. Guess Grunwald is a hater too.

As far as what he told a bunch of kids, this is the 21st century, news spreads like wildfire. Someone who is on twitter as much as JR should know that by now. You make it sound like it was the only answer he could have given them.

This isn't about the morality of smoking weed, hell no. Its about knowing that you let your team down in a big way and taking the appropriate precautions to avoid letting the team down again. Its about being available to play. They may win those 5 games without JR, they might not, it could make a difference in the seeding, or it won't. JR shouldn't have put the team in this position to begin with.

I read somewhere that most NBA ballers smoke in the offseason, I don't have any problem with that. Almost all of them of them take precautions to avoid testing positive. Whatever he did or didn't do to avoid a positive result, JR came up short, again.

I believe you're a knowledgeable poster and fan, but you have this soft spot for JR that I just can't fathom. Calling me a "hater" is way over the top. Not after I spent most of last season defending JR. I'm Po'd at him, but I don't hate him. The only player I ever felt anything close to hating was Quentin Richardson and even after he came back last season I posted that I would be willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. I'm not the most knowledgeable poster on this board, but I do believe when it comes to being fair, I'm near the top of the list. I have to throw that last line back at you Durzo, you're better than that.

Vmart @ 9/6/2013 4:02 PM
I don't know who the bigger fool is JR Smith or Woody.
TeamBall @ 9/6/2013 4:04 PM

C'mon JR...

ChuckBuck @ 9/6/2013 4:06 PM
Apparently this the third time he got caught by the league for weed, so basically he don't give a phuck:

The punishment suggests that Smith did not test positive for a performance-enhancing drug but instead tested positive for marijuana. According to the league's drug policy a player is suspended five games after a third positive test for marijuana A second offense results in a $25,000 fine while first positive test calls for the player to enter a program.
smackeddog @ 9/6/2013 4:06 PM
Don't see why players can't smoke weed in the offseason, especially when they're injured and can't work out. Lame!

Blame the Collective Bargaining Agreement the Player's union agreed upon:

http://www.nbpa.org/cba/2005/article-xxx...

Weed's in there, look it up. Random testing, man. Rule's are rules!

Don't want to follow them, go to Europe or China to play ball...

Good or bad Knicks have an attention whore on the team. Most have been saying this on the board for sometime now JR will find a way to let his team down. Mentally weak player, who is not committed to his profession. What's the difference between JR AND BEASLEY.

Why does it matter? Players can drink and smoke cigs, those will affect their performance as much as weed. Player should never have agreed to tests for weed- just backward moralising by people who know nothing about it.

While I do agree, it's still the rules and JR had to have known he would be penalized for continuously failing the tests. I'm not upset that he smoked (I honestly do not care) but it's annoying that he failed 3 times knowing that he shouldn't be doing it and would get suspended for it while already knowing he would miss games because of his injury.
JesseDark @ 9/6/2013 4:29 PM
I'd go ahead and bring in Rip Hamiliton, at least he is mature and won't hurt the team. Selfish move by JR. It would be a dog fight for the guys on partial non guaranteed contracts.

I'll try one more time, its not about weed. If the league said that drinking snapple will get you suspended, if they have a test for it, you make sure you pass the test, or you switch to vitamin water. Its about not getting you're arse suspended over any substance, its about not letting your team down. A five game suspension is letting your team down and smoking during the regular season when you know that you will be under more scrutiny was a poor decision on his part, if in fact that's what happened.

And I agree with what your saying, I just think its important to also say when a rule is complete BS- what the heck is the justification for it?!

I wonder if league officials and team owners get tested for substance abuse all year round...
