I love it.

I want to see JR SWAG on JR's jersey one day.

skeng @ 9/24/2013 3:06 PM
that's horrible... What about all the guys who doesn't have a nickname?

Next thing we know, the NBA is called And 1 Mixtape

Sangfroid @ 9/24/2013 3:18 PM
It's like wearing a baseball cap backwards, during the game. Let's try to keep some tradition in the game. The next thing you know, they would want to wear their pants slouching, with boxer shorts on.

i think it was kidd, in the article, that said:

"hey, we're adults playing a kid's game, we all grew up playing ball and having nicknames, so it would be fun to do this, it's would be fun for the fans and us"

my take is that, look, this isn't a permanent change, it's a one-game thing, it's kind of cool, it's fresh, it reminds everyone not to take themselves too seriously,

hoops is a game, life is a game, you gotta laugh a little, live a little eh?

no one is saying we're going to lower the rim height or introduce 4-point baskets,

we're just talking about one more cool jersey that will be available,

next you will tell me that you are against spanish night, when teams wear "Los Heat" or "El Celticos",

IronWillGiroud @ 9/24/2013 3:50 PM
i think my jersey would say "d balls"
gunsnewing @ 9/24/2013 4:30 PM

I don't like it at all. It's childish and unprofessional. The last thing aholes like Lebron and Wade need is more padding to their titanic-sized egos. As the suns player stated in the yahoo article, it makes it more about the individual than the team, and basketball is a team sport. Plus, it will also make identifying less popular players harder when watching the game live (god forbid they actually use these ridiculous names on stat sheets and box scores). It may be a "kid's game" but these guys get paid millions to play it and we as fans in NY have to pay a fortune to watch. I'd like a modicum of professionalism if I'm spending so much to watch these athletes play. Nicknames are spoken, not read, and it should stay that way.

Ridiculous comparison. The names used on spanish night are slight variation's on a TEAM name to honor a specific ethnicity. The only thing these personal nicknames honor is LeDouche's inflated opinion of himself.

People are taking this way too seriously. We forget some of the absolute monstrosities of uni designs of the past that IMO are worse than the idea of nicknames on the back of a jersey. At least it's not a sponsor logo as some said they would have no problem with. That to me would be a travesty.
gunsnewing @ 9/24/2013 5:49 PM

Its why they just say "New Orleans"........

Back to the subject, I think its just one game they doing this.

Ken "the animal" Banniser!!!

A "Starbury" jersey would have sold tons!!!

Jordan did not have a nick name did he?
