Knicks · Knicks waive Brownlee and sign Chris Douglas-Roberts (page 1)

I think someone on these boards wanted us to sign him, so they'll be pleased. Wow- did Brownlee set a record for shortest stint as a Knick?!

technomaster @ 10/2/2013 12:27 PM
I'm surprised CDR hasn't stuck. I don't think he has a place on the Knicks (we have a lot of guards on the roster who need PT - with a lot of SG minutes likely going to a dual-PG role), but interesting that we're bringing him in.

I think he can provide instant offense. Not a super athlete, but he's a herky-jerky crafty player who can get it done for stretches. Not sure if he's long term starter material, but that's not what we're looking for.

smackeddog @ 10/2/2013 12:29 PM
Filling the last roster spot is awkward since Tyler got injured. Ideally I would have liked us to sign Murry, or a SF, but with Amar'e out and Tyler out, we really need a PF/C.

I always thought CDR had a handle like Jamal Crawford, surprised that he hasn't caught on with a team already.

good stroke, good build. I like the move

Big fan of his. It definitely boggles the mind this guy is a last minute training camp signing. I think he's a fantastic basketball player
Finestrg @ 10/2/2013 1:39 PM
GREAT MOVE!!!! I f'in love this guy!! Dude's a tremendous scorer. I hope he sticks. Should've signed him outright instead of even fooling around with Brownlee. Apples and oranges -- CDR's the much better talent...Makes a lot of sense. He's NBA ready and instantly replaces JR's firepower off the bench; he's a good insurance option in case Shump ever pulls up lame (happens all the time) or THJ proves he's not ready for major minutes AND at 6'7" he's can also fill in at the 3. Love the move. Happy day. Piecing together the end of the roster just got even more complicated now, that's the only thing, but whatever--we'll deal with it. You can never have enough talent and trust me, this dude's TALENTED. Still relatively young too -- born 1/8/87 -- what's that make him, 26?? No brainer move all around...Poor Brownlee though, huh? Unless Brownlee just got injured, this move reads like Brownlee was a Grunwald guy all the way and now that Grunny's gone, he was shown the door. Feel bad for Brownlee a little but I'm sorry man -- CDR is the superior player by a mile. It's SICK, the amount of offense we can throw at teams now! WOW. Mills batting .1000 so far as far as I'm concerned!

Ian Begley saying on twitter that Brownlee may have gotten hurt, hence the move:

Ok, so maybe it had nothing to do with him being a Grunwald guy...Sorry to hear the kid got hurt but this was a sizable upgrade in talent right here. CDR has a pretty good chance to make this team; Brownlee had no chance. Zero.

Finestrg @ 10/2/2013 1:59 PM
Aldrich, Tyler (or Diogu) and CDR for the last 3 now??
callmened @ 10/2/2013 2:06 PM
I must give credit to where its due. Finestrg first mentioned him but I "blah" about him

Is this a camp invite

callmened @ 10/2/2013 2:10 PM
I wouldnt mind him as a backup 3

Byebye cj

CDR is not the most athletic...he has no dribble (at least not like crawford) but he has a gift of scoring with his herkyjerky moves. Hes a slasher with a limited jumper. He plays poor defense cuz of lack of athletic ism

What the hell? Someone stated CDR had no handle and wasn't atheltic and then we watch a video of the guy showing good handle for a 6'7" guy and athletic ability dunking the ball. I've always liked the kid. I don't know how we can fit all these guys, but I wish we had a spot for him. Just seems like a numbers game.
callmened @ 10/2/2013 2:56 PM
That would be me

He doesnt hv crawford like dribbling skills....these are just highlights

Also from what i remember he lost some athletic abily after injuries

how can you say that and then post a highlight with him displaying those same skills?

He had some injuries and he was a second round pick....but that might be it. The dude was stuck in limbo because of economics.

He fell into the dog house with the nets and the Bucks. He also didn't stick in Dallas. Something is missing that we can't see or read.

His talent is unquestionable

Not sure about CDR. There's an interview with Toure Murry on Knicksnow- I really like his attitude and demeanor- very serious, all business, talks about how he signed with us over the heat out of loyalty. I'd really like to see him make the team, but with Tyler and Amar'e out I don't know if we can take the risk of not signing a PF/C.

dope video....everyone check this out...CDR talking about his current situation, and getting waived by the Mavs last season

Woody is speaking highly of CJ and his work ethic, even talked about how he'd get more time along with Tim Jr and Shump, with JR out. So looks like he's making the team (some people thought we should cut him to make another roster spot available). Just don't see us using our last spot on CDR...

I wasn't impressed with SL, but then I hear CJ was coming off a hip injury? Glad to hear he's impressing the coaching staff - a reason to be as excited about the signing as I was immediately after the draft. I'd like to see Tyler and Murry each make the team. CJ/Aldrich/CDR/Diogu can battle it out for the last spot. Either way, I feel better about the end of our bench than I have in a long time.

*Holy shit...just saw Diogu's already 30. Doesn't seem like he was drafted all that long ago...
