I Don't understand Woody's need to say what he does, sometimes it's best to let the team play it out. When your coach doesn't believe in the team as a Championship contender what kind of precedence does that set for the team.

Do you honnestly believe this team is a contender? If yes, there may lie the issue.
The first step to improve is accept that you suck.
The Knicks never did that and fooled themselves into believing they were contenders.

Hence, the Knicks sucked for years, still suck now and will probably still suck in the near future.

winning 54 games was the best and worst thing to happen to the knicks last year..

not at all. It showed that when guys are in a good environment and asked to do a job within their skill set that the talent is there to compete at a pretty high level. Maybe not for a title but definatly the level just below, and lets face it, if either JR stays sober enough to shoot straight or Tyson plays Hibbert like he did in the regular season we are in the conference finals vs. Miami and those 54 wins has a very different feel.

This year starts with the 54 win GM getting cut and despite being outplayed by young and veteran players alike JR's little brother gets a spot on the team while big bro serves his suspension.

Its not a big stretch

The mistake people are making is gauging the team on the 54 wins. That team no longer exists, Wallace, Kidd, are no longer here and the were an integral part of the 54 wins. This current team took a huge hit in the leadership department. The Knicks are back to where they were two years ago in terms of talent and leadership. Should have made a play for Billups to replace Kidd.

You forgot to talk about our incredible 3pt shooting last year and the fact that we traded our 2 best shooters for a guy that is a net negative player, while at the same time killing the spacing that helped our franchise player have his most successful season ever.

It is definitely a big stretch.
